“Significant changes in attitudes towards the environmental and social impact of construction have been taking place in recent years.
Pressures on the industry involving the three strands of sustainability – economics, social equity and environmental enhancement – have led to activity in development of appropriate policies throughout the sector, and to more stringent legislation….

As a consequence, the construction industry… is developing policies and practices that are environmentally and socially more responsible…”
