Employability Skills Essay Example
Firstly I would like to introduce myself to you. My Name is Shandell McAndrew. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Primary). Working as an Individual Support Assistant (I.S.A) at Jingili Primary School has given me a sense of direction in what I want to achieve. I work with a number of children from all ages and who require additional help with their learning. After working at this school for 5 years, I have now decided to have a career in teaching as it is very rewarding to see children achieve in all aspects of their learning and I would like in the future to be able to help them achieve this as well.

Employability skills I have already acquired and which I bring with me as I start my university studies are: communicating effectively, listening to others, being reliable, committed, and working in a team environment. I gained these skills through having great role models such as my family whilst growing up. From my experiences working in a school I have improved on these employability skills.

As I am currently working in a team environment I needed to possess this skill because you are working collaboratively together with other staff members to achieve the best learning outcomes for the students as well as other curriculum areas that are beneficial for your school and the wider community. I am committed to giving children the best learning journey that I am capable of giving and teachers need to be committed in providing the best for their students. Throughout my university studies I need to be committed to my studies in order for me to graduate. Listening skills are also important in not only listening to your student’s needs and wants but to listen to advice from other staff members. Throughout my university studies I need be able to listen to my lecturers if I want to improve my grades. Teachers need to be reliable by being on time to class, having programs handed into the senior staff as there are deadlines to be met etc. This

Based on the Learning Skills Assessment Record, I found that my strongest skills are self-regulation, collaboration, and responsibility. In past experiences, I have used my self-regulation by constantly setting new goals and objectives for myself. For instance, our fitness plans in health class, or achieving higher than 80% in all my courses. I know that I am doing excellent in self-regulation because I have achieved both of these goals. An example of responsibility is that I am quite punctual for anything I have to attend. I am good at collaborating with others because even though I may not take the leadership role in a group, I will still make sure everyone’s voice is heard and considered.…

The career that I have literally chosen is the automotive service technician and mechanics career. The reason why I chose this career it’s because… Well actually I have plenty and many reasons to choose from because I am very passionate about this career and I have lived through it my entire life. One reason is that Auto Mechanics is because to me it’s an interesting field to me. I decided to explore the topic a little more to get a better understanding of what it would take to become a successful automotive technician . I have lived through the auto mechanics field pretty much all through my life. Well actually since I have been born. The reason of this is very simple. That is because my very own dad is an auto mechanic himself. Well actually to be more exact, he owns his own auto mechanic shop. Since I was little I have always helped him at his work because I have always enjoyed working with vehicles. Since the very first day that I started working with him I already knew that the automotive field was the job for me. Since I was a baby my very own parents use to tell me that I would disappear out of their sight. And when they used to find me I used to be playing with the tools besides my dad helping him out. I have pretty much made my mind up about actually going further in this career. Not only because I actually enjoy doing that job but also because of the pay check that you receive. Well actually that is a bonus in it. It does matter to me the money that you earn in it but not as much as I like doing the activity of interacting and working with automobiles. I have faith in me that one day I am not only going to fix cars, but I am also going to own my own shop myself.…
