CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Project Context
A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. The provision of basic accommodation in the past consisted only of a room with a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand. This has largely been replaced by rooms with modern facilities, including en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning or climate control.
The cost and quality of hotels are usually indicative of the range and type of the available service. Due to the enormous increase in tourism worldwide during the 20th century, standards, especially those of smaller establishments, have improved considerably. Hotels are independently assessed in traditional systems and these rely heavily on the facilities provided.
Today, most of the hotels provide goods and services using computers. It helps to perform task in an easy way with a lesser time. Some companies become fully automated while others strive for the similar setting.
The researchers proposed to create E-Transaction System for Cristina Business Suite, Ormoc City. Since Cristina Business Suite uses daily a manual system in its transactions like a logbook in order to know the list of check-in and check-out, reservations and billings.
The system that the researchers proposed computes the bills of its customers. Customers can have a request when they want to have reservations, like choosing the best rooms for them by viewing images of the different rooms and facilities with rates attached on a webpage. A business like hotel should be updated regularly with technology in order for them to compete. The location of the hotel plays a very important factor.
