In today’s society we are dependent on social media for information. Social media gives us a feeling of being connected, even when we don’t even know the person we are reading about. The information passed through Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, MySpace comes to us uncensored and can evolve rather quickly. Many companies use tools like Facebook, to reach their customers. People are on Facebook twenty four hours of the day, seven days of the week no matter what is going on. One of the reason that websites like Facebook have become such in inter part of our lives is our cell phones give us the ability to connect with people, places and things…
Over the years, with the development of powerful technologies of connected devices such as smartphones and tablets, the new generation has found ways to communicate and exchange ideas, not only through traditional communication mediums such as television and radio, but also through social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. These technologies allow individuals to access vital information at their fingertips. As such, in…

The Information Age primary forces were brought on by computers and televisions which were the primary forces of the explosion which became to be an every use in the American household which kept them up to date with news and telecast of the news of the wars and the first astronauts to walk on the moon. The computers helped with production storage which was a back up from paper work. The shift from book to screen altered the way individuals perceived reality. My experience in living in the Information Age is that I enjoy having technology from since I can remember to now technology has advanced tremendously looking back to my first cell phone and currently now having a smart phone who would of ever imagined a cell phone would do pretty much just about the same as a computer, I am grateful for having technology from TV shows, to the way you can send a text message and its received instantly etc. living in the Information Age makes life a lot easier and simple.…
In today’s social media it is easier for people to get their word out to the people faster. This past election has influenced heavily by social media along with other major new events earlier in the year. Among 18-29-year-olds, nearly two-thirds said social media is the most useful means of learning new things about politics according to a study released last year by the Pew Research Center (Perrin, 2015). This past year has shown a drastic increase in the use of social media among young adults and even people in their 40’s and 50’s when it comes to following the news and current events. 65% of american adults use social networking sites and young adults 18-29 are sitting at an all time high of 90% according to the Pew Research Center (Perrin, 2015). The world wide web is comparable to a vast jungle, spanning millions of miles, bursting with an excess of information that is constantly feeding in and out of the population’s brain. Ever since the release of the internet to the public in the late 1980’s, the United States has allowed its citizens to connect technologically. Commonly known as the the literal “center” of most humans’ lives, the internet is home to many different groups of people, with various messages. It may not seem obvious to a normal reader, however, most online sources are deceiving. Many online or non-traditional sources divert from the truth and provide the reader with false propaganda, to persuade an action or belief in favor of the source.…
Social media has undeniably become a prominent part of everyday life in recent years for most individuals, it has been widely beneficial, but gradually the detrimental effects of social media are also becoming apparent. It has enabled people to keep in touch with friends and family all over the world with the touch of a finger, as well as being able to keep individuals constantly aware and alerted of ongoing events and breaking news. Not only are people constantly being informed with news, but they also have the ability to spread vast amounts of information to large or small communities alike. This factor has broken the construct of only news organizations and journalists being able to post news stories. The upside to this is that people now…

Social media and networking has erupted in the past few years. The means in which individuals communicate has shifted to a point where some cannot even remember living differently. This new age has brought many advances in the ways we live; it also though has hindered the ways in which humans physically function. Whether you were born in the 60's or in the past 10 years, this impact has had a ripple effect and is now changing everyone. People are now able to communicate in seconds across the world. Businesses have made connections that may not have been possible before this new technological age. With this new technology and cyber life, has also come many challenges. These challenges exist in the human mind. Sigmund Freud brought into play the idea that the human mind actually has a series of what can be seen as checks and balances. These checks and balances, the ego, id and superego are there to help humans maintain a stable, comfortable life. Changes though can sometimes be too much and they can actually harm they ways in which humans think and interact. Facebook and Twitter are just two of the thousands of social media sites that have embedded into our lives and changed the way we communicate, interact and the decisions we make. The changes that have come have cause people to become vulnerable and the minds across the world have become an open to influences both good and bad.…
Electricity was first introduced to society hundreds of years ago; the way people communicate began to change in many different ways since then. New inventions helped people build more sophisticate tools to build better places to live and work. This new inventions changed the way we live now days; they make our lives much easier. In the decade of the 1920's when radio was first introduced to public, people begin buying it and using it more and more, as years passed by it become incredibly popular that most American families had a radio at their houses. They could spend hours with their families listening to music or their favorite shows. This was just the beginning of the revolution of social media. Throughout the years social media has reached a lot more people and has changed the way we communicate and interact with others, but it is changing the way we think too “Psychologists have also argued that digital technology is changing the way we think” (Derbyshire). The easy access to social media is causing alarming changes in the brains of society.…
It is inevitable that there will always be changes in technology that makes acquiring information more efficient, so instead of blaming the advancements I think it is more fair to blame society. We are the users of the internet and choose to use the web to obtain information, using the easy way out, instead of taking the time to look through book after book to gain knowledge; we are the only ones to blame. Since the internet is today’s universal medium of reading, we have become accustomed to finding out important news and facts through the web and because of this, people have become more informed of the world holistically. Through twitter and news apps like CNN, I have been able to keep up with world relations and have been able to research further on specific details that I read. The apps allow society to be informed about what is really going on in other countries without any filter, creating a well informed community within these apps. In my opinion, it is important to be aware of situations in other countries and in our controversial political system to be able to have solid opinions about them. This understanding of information is due to the spread of information through the internet. By having the ability to share raw information on the internet,…
Since the beginning of time, information has always been considered a good thing, a means to grow, and a way to develop and sustain culture. In the past, information had often been considered scarce, and truly a privilege to have. Now, information is being produced and received at a rapid rate. Humans cannot process as much information as the amount continuously flowing in. We are in a state of information surplus, an era of information overload.…
WE are now living in an information society because of the advent of the internet and various social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Netlog, Zorpia, Whatsuapp and Blogs, among others.…
