Throughout the course of the Roman Republic, they were threatened by many different countries around them. They created a mighty military that crushed the Latin states. After that, they waged a war against the Samnites, and were victorious. They had a significant portion of Italy as a result, and came into direct contact with the Greeks. The Roman's culture was greatly affected by the Greeks (such as adapting gods). Later on, the Romans crushed the Greeks, and had most of Italy under control. Their conquests were successful because of their great military strategy and their effectiveness of their ruling. For example, they gave their conquered civilians full Roman status, and gave them a stake in success. They also crushed rebellions without mercy, and used force when necessary. The Romans were good soldiers and persistent ones; they rebuilt the losses after each battle. They also built interconnecting roads that helped them move ideas, people, and weapons/food across Italy to fortified positions. Rome essentially mobilized the manpower of Italy for war.…

History of present illness: The patient is a very pleasant 57 year old female, a native of Cuba, being seen for evaluation and treatment for sores her in mouth that she has had for the last 10-12 days. The patient has a long history of severe and debilitating rheumatoid arthritis for which she has had numerous treatments, but over the past ten years she has been treated with methotrexate, quite successfully. Her dosage has varied somewhere between 20 and 25 mg per week. About the beginning of this year, her dosage was decreased from 25 mg to 20 mg, but because of a flare of the rheumatoid arthritis, it was increased to 22.5 mg per week. She has had no problems with the methotrexate as far as she knows; she also took an NSAID about a month ago that was recently discontinued because of the ulcerations in her mouth. About 2 weeks ago, just about the time the stomatitis began, she was placed on an antibiotic for a suspected upper respiratory infection. She does not remember the name of the antibiotic, although she claims she remembers taking this type of medication in the past without any problems.…

A position opens in your department at work. You recommend to a coworker and friend in another department that she should apply. You previously consulted with this person on small projects, and she appears knowledgeable and responsible. In fact, you became friends through these work contacts. Your friend appreciates your recommendation and arranges a meeting to ask you more details about the work done by your department. The meeting is productive, and your friend takes notes to help with the application process. Your friend stops by your desk a few days later to thank you for your help, because the application was long and detailed. She confides that some of the information she included on the application is not entirely accurate. Some of her work experience did not match the job requirements and needed to be reworded for a better fit. Your friend thanks you again and says, “I hope we’ll be working together soon!”…

I do not think that colleges have moral obligations to help students become ethical individuals because for one, there are a lot of people who attend college from different backgrounds, and with that comes different upbringings. I also believe that colleges don't teach ethical morals because there are a lot of careers that require for you to have no type of emotional attachment in your field of work. For example, you're a licensed doctor, and for the first time, a small child dies…
