~Mahatma Gandhi. Service is to help others in need or not in need. I am excited to try to do even more service in the future. I have many ideas for the school when it comes to service. One idea is to help children in hospitals by just making them something like a card or decoration. My dad is working with a company that is rebuilding St. Peter’s Hospital and I know that some of the kids in the children’s section of the hospital would love something to cheer them up. Right now for service I give my old clothes and toys to my younger cousin and if she doesn’t want them, we take them to the Salvation Army. Also like I had mentioned in the first paragraph we donate over three or four hundred dollars a year to the WGY Christmas wish organization. That money goes to poor families so the parents can buy presents or food for their children. I know I need to work on this skill in particular but I have many good…

While growing up, Olivia was isolated from arts. Her school in the Dominican Republic didn’t have the supplies to teach fine arts. Because of this, she founded the Peguero Arte Libros Foundation US and the Art Books for Education Project that focuses on art education for young Dominican children in rural areas. These children are not exposed to and do not have the opportunity to learn fine arts such as: painting, sculpture, poetry and story writing. The goal of the programs are to supply rural schools with a set of Spanish language art books that cover painting, sculpting, poetry and story writing. The program gives the library the books but if they don’t have a library, it’s the start of a long term collection to benefit all students.…

It is important to encourage children and young people to recognise and value creativity to enable the children and young people to make decisions by themselves, to learn from their mistakes and to be able to learn to make choices. This may be from choosing which materials to use in craft, from choosing how to dance to a piece of music and making their own musical instruments. “We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give.” While brainstorming ideas for this essay I came across this quote by Winston Churchill. Even if you are making a good living for yourself, you should always take time out of your day to give back; you never know when you might need someone to help you out. Volunteering my time to my community has always been something I’ve made time for. Not only does volunteering help others, but it can affect your own character. By volunteering you learn social skills, gain work experience, and if you are lucky enough, it will change your life.…

Last year, in August I found out my father had been cheating on my mother. April 18,2017 my parents had officially become divorced. This meant after 15 yrs. , my mother was going back to work. For me, this meant a drastic increase in responsibility. Quite frequently, in the mornings I have to wake up early to get my fourteen year old brother off to school. If I hurry him too much he will get frustrated and if we move too slow, I will be late to school. I come home in the evenings, and regardless of how I feel, one of my first priorities is to see how my little brother is doing. He gets bullied sometimes and doesn’t have very many friends.…
