Unit 2 PERD Task 1
The activity I planned was based on fine motor development skills. The activity I set was a shopping role play area. The shopping role play area had food, baskets and a till. The till had buttons to open it up and coins inside. This was set up in a small area of the classroom and there was five children taking part. P2.2
My role was to supervise the children taking part of this activity and to be there if they needed anything. I followed advise from my supervisor as they said to get more children involved not just a couple of children. The support was suitable for the children as they could all join in and have fun whilst using fine motor skills. The children did understand that only one person could be using the till at once and that they had to take turns. P2.3
The aim stated above was to get the children using there fine motor development skills, this aim was met in this activity as they was using tripod and pincer grasps for the buttons and coins, but they was also using palmer grasps for the shopping to put into the baskets and shopping bags.
The activity I planned was based on gross motor skills. The activity I set was kicking and throwing a ball in pairs. This activity took place in the playground and there were four children in two pairs. P2.2
My role was to supervise the children taking part of this activity and help them to learn to kick and throw the balls to one another. I first showed the children how to throw the ball and then asked them to each take it in turns and throw the ball to me, so I could show them how to catch it. I also used this same method to show them how to kick it towards someone gently so there were no injuries. I followed advice from my supervisor as they said to use a small group of children to do this activity.
