C Grade Point Average For A Drivers Licence

In some states, legislators have debated whether teenagers should be required to maintain a “C” grade average in school before receiving a driver’s license. Some people think this would be a good policy because having a passing grade shows that students are responsible enough to be good drivers. Other people believe that the policy wouldn’t be appropriate because they see no relationship between grades in school and driving skills. I believe that students should maintain a “C” grade average. I believe that a student should be required to maintain a “C” grade average in order to get a driver’s license. If a student can maintain a “C” grade average it shows that he/she can be responsible & mature. If a student can’t handle academic responsibilities, then how can she handle driving a car an even bigger responsibility? Requiring a “C” average to students who want their driver’s license will force them to be responsible and apply themselves.  Another reason why maintaining a “C” grade average should be required in order to obtain a driver’s license is because it will make the roads safer. Every year thousands of teenagers die due to reckless driving. That number could decrease if maintaining a “C” grade average was required. Students who don’t care about getting decent grades probably don’t care to learn the rules and signs of the road. Allowing a student to drive without knowing those rules is an accident waiting to happen. However, if a student with passing grades gets a driver’s license, that student will most likely have taken the time to learn the signs & rules of the road.  One last reason why maintaining a “C” grade average should be required in order to obtain a driver’s license is because of the advantages that come with it. There have been numerous links between school and driving. Studies have shown that students who perform better in school have fewer accidents.
