Being Bullied Essay Example
Being Bullied When I was in middle school I was bullied. No one should ever have to go through what I went through as a young middle school child. It can cause a lot of damage to one’s self esteem, and it can cause health problems down the road. Now that I have children of my own, I want to make sure they know that they do not have to go through what I went through growing up and being bullied. I try to make sure that my children know there are ways to deal with a bully. And I try to help my children with recognizing if you are the victim of a bully. There are several ways that a person can be bullied. I had people calling me names, trying to fight me, and trying to push me down several flights of stairs. The first thing that I want to talk about is how kids would call me names. As I grew up I didn’t have very many kids that were my true friends. Some kids would say that they were my friends, but then they would turn around and talk about me behind my back and that is not someone that is your friend. Kids can be cruel! They will say things to you and about you that can really hurt your feelings. As we grow up people tell us that words cannot hurt you, but to tell you the truth words can cause a lot of damage to one’s self esteem and mental status. As I grew up I had a lot of mental abuse from other kids. The types of names that they would call me were very hurtful and damaging to my mental status. I was from a lower class, lower income family so I didn’t have the best stuff. And this in my opinion can cause kids to pick on you for just that reason. As to which it would make them feel better than me and make me feel bad about myself. Which, that caused me to not feel very good about myself, giving me very low self esteem. The next thing I want to talk about is fighting. Some kids would say that I said something, when to tell you the truth I had never said it at all. This would result in these kids wanting to fight me. I don’t believe that

Bullying has become an epidemic, and it needs to come to an end. If people will stand up for each other and protect each other, I believe bullying would cease to be effective. It preys on those who do not have the confidence to defend themselves. Often times, the bully hurts others as a way of protecting himself. He believes that if he attacks others, then they will not know he himself is hurting, or has been hurt in the past. It becomes a coping mechanism for him. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that bullying should not be responded to with more violence. They need to be shown love, but firm love. A love that says, “I love you enough to not let you continue down this path. Let me show you another way.” Then you are not only l protecting those that the bully hurts, but also you are protecting the bully himself in the long run.…

Bullying is a phenomenon that has existed even before it became documented. Because of its prior history, many forms, and different perceptions of what bullying is, there is a great extent of definitions that constitute as bullying behavior. Beginning in the late 1990’s, bullying behavior became a hot spot for researchers as school shootings increased because of the negative experiences that victims of bullying had encountered particularly in 1996 (Parkay, Hass & Anctil, 2010). Increasing school violence called for the attention of school- based bullying and its different forms. Bullying takes place in two different forms that is, traditional bullying and cyber & indirect bullying. My family and myself were some of the lucky ones we had good jobs and we had a fair education, but many others had no education or job and it is unjust of me to flaunt myself in front of them so I didn’t.…

While on the phone we first went over the industry-versus-inferiority stage in detail that way she could recall how she felt during the middle age. With the industry-versus-inferiority children will face challenges with how they present themselves in front of peers, parents, school, etc. With my grandma, she laughed it off, she was telling me growing up between the ages of six and twelve she really didn’t care much of what others thought. Even at a young age she was more focused on herself and going out to play to care what people had to say about her. Besides she would tell me she was a very outgoing child, she loved to make new friends and that’s possibly why she said she couldn’t recall any type of bullying besides the typical boy teasing her because they had a crush on her. With industry-versus-inferiority it talks about…

Bullying amongst America’s youth has evolved into much more than just teasing one’s peers on the playground at school. With the technology today children can be bullied on the internet through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well. This takes this problem to another level. How should the American citizens and lawmakers go about preventing bullying? State mandated programs to prevent bullying should be enacted in schools, daycares, and youth camps to teach children that bullying is wrong and there are consequences if they are caught bullying their peers. In April of this year 10 students were arrested after a video was found on YouTube of them pushing and teasing another child they were all 12 years and younger. Bullying can be defined as harassment, hazing, and threatening someone either verbally or in written form. If bullying continues it will cause chaos throughout America in the future because if children are allowed to display this behavior in their youth it will trickle into their adult lives.…

“ A nationally representative U.S. study shows that 17 percent of all students reported having been bullied "sometimes" or more often within a school term. This amounts to almost one in five students. And, for every case reported to school officials, there are many more bullied students who suffer in silence.” (Violence Prevention Works from Hazelden Publishing.) These are the kind of advice that I received from my parents when I was growing up.…

One of the primary influences on how self esteem is formed is one's environment. A great majority of adults can recall either being the target of the insults of their peers as children; or, being the one that targeted the other kids. Those who were the instigators have, in all probability, shrugged it off as a part of growing up. However, for the victims of this practice, there are often deep scars.…
