Abstract
This research is entitled “Analysis the short story “In Another Country” by Ernest Hemingway Based on Dramatic situation”. The aim of this research is know the dramatic situation in this short story can make the readers know more knowledge about this short story, not only to enjoy re and admire it.
The applied method in this research is analytic descriptive; it is conducted by describing and then analyzing the Laurence Perrine’s book (in poetry class), Structure sound and sense and according to materials of Introduction to Literature class. The Research Findings, writing in a dramatic situation in this short story there are some things to consider, i.e. (1) know who Ernest Hemingway, as a short story writer come from America, (2) where setting in that time he wrote in this short story, short story in this setting was in a hospital, in Milan Italy, and was happening in World War I, and the last (3) where was this short story included during the period of the literatures, it was this short story writing in modernism Age.

According to Wikipedia defines short stories tend to be less complex than novels. Usually a short story focuses on one incident; has a single plot, a single setting, and a small number of characters; and covers a short period of time. In longer forms of fiction, stories tend to contain certain core elements of dramatic situation: exposition (the introduction of setting, situation and main characters); complication (the event that introduces the conflict or not).
