Cyrano de Bergerac Hero Paper
Cyrano de Bergerac was indeed a hero because has had to overcome an obstacle, gone to battle when all odds were against him, and he is also a tragic hero. Cyrano de Bergerac was a play written by Edmond Rostand in 1897. Cyrano de Bergerac was definitely an exceptional hero. He acted on his own set of morals. Most often, people would relate the term hero with fighting or war. While Cyrano was indeed a hero in that sense, he was also a hero in romance. Cyrano was a hero, but characteristics made him this unforgettable literary and skilled hero. For the association that everyone knows of, a hero is often described as a man who is gifted with great courage and strength. This description of a hero perfectly matches Cyrano. At the end of the first act, Cyrano does and helps Lignière by fighting one hundred men all by himself. Cyrano only kills eight men but he was brave because he stuck up for his friend and also so he could meet a girl though. Even in battle when the men of his troop are left out to dry Cyrano does not act scared but leads his men bravely and heroically to battle. He is a tragic hero also because in his mind he thinks no one could ever love him because of the size of his nose. So, Cyrano is too afraid to tell Roxanne that he likes her so he lets Christian use his words to get the girl and know that he is a good writer.
