A Visit to an Amusement Park
On the day of my thirteenth birthday, I was really excited since I was going to an amusement park for the first time in my life. So me and some of my friends I had invited, got into the car with my mom and dad, ready to have the time of our lives at the amusement park. On reaching the park, we bought tickets for everyone and entered the park. The only fitting description for it was “amazing”. I was really spellbound. Everywhere people were moving excitedly from one ride to another, funny music drifted to our ears along with the screams of laughter from every direction, people dressed up like clowns were entertaining the kids, and the most exciting was the rollercoaster, it looped in and out of nowhere and ran up and down and spun around in a crazy manner. My parents handed me some money and told us to enjoy the rides. We first queued up for the roller coaster, which was the greatest attraction of all. Soon we were seated on the ride and held on to the bars holding us firmly to our seats. The next ten minutes was a blur of screams, the wind whizzing through our hair, laughter and tightly closed eyes. We descended with shaky knees and dizzy heads, but with faces full of broad grins and adrenaline pulsing through our body. We headed straight for the bumper cars and soon started bumping into each other with as much force as we could, enjoying ourselves thoroughly. Then we went for those shooting games in which you get a prize if you hit the target. Ready to show our shooting skills, we were soon loaded with video game prizes and some soft toys which didn’t make us happy since the age for playing with soft toys was long gone for us. Still, we took them since we had won them. Then came the most scary part, The Freaky House. Rumors had it that once you entered it, you never came out the same. So, being thirteen year old teenagers, and claiming not to be afraid of anything we entered the house with heads held high, but came out of it with goosepimples on our hands and our hearts thumping loudly against our chests. To top all this we were shaking from head to foot, with all those scary images in our heads which would haunt us throughout our lives. During all this we hadn’t noticed time fly and it was getting dark, so we entered an indoor restaurant where we were joined by our parents and we ordered a birthday boy special meal for me and burgers, pizzas and sodas for everyone else. We ate and drank and told my parents what we had done that day. Finally we all returned home and said our goodbyes I lay on my bed, with the images of all the fun I had that day replaying in my mind constantly.

My church was having a trip to Six Flags and I didn’t want to miss it. Since we are in Killen and Dallas is a 3hr drive we decided to leave early (I’m guessing that’s the reason why). I got to church sometime around 6:30- 6:45 and left sometime around 7:00. We talked, listened to music and slept like on any trip. And it wasn’t all that exciting till we actually got there. Since this was my first trip there, i was VERY excited and anxious to ride the roller coasters. So we got there and walked around and decided to ride the titan. The Titan was the craziest roller coaster of them all. Now when you’ve never been on a roller coaster, the one thing you don’t know is that, they are MUCH bigger then they look. Before I actually rode the Titan, I did not think we were going to be so high up. We just kept going up..... And up..... And up...... and up..... And up.....…

It was mid year and I was in 4th grade. My siblings and I were on spring break and my mom thought it would be a fun idea to bring us to the roller rink. I remember being so excited because I loved roller skating. When we arrived there I sprinted out of the car and rushed to go get my skates. Once my mom had paid it was like a gunshot went off I raced to go get my skates on and next thing I know I am skating on the wooden floor. As I was skating I looked around and noticed something odd. I saw one of my friends in front of me. Then I saw another. I started looking around and realized all my friends were here. But why? I wondered. Being the naive kid I was thought maybe it was just a coincidence that we were all here at the same time. I was wrong. I wasn’t even close to the reason why. It ended up being who I thought were my “best friend’s” birthday party. I was devastated how could she not invite me? She ended up noticing I was there and came over saying how she forgot to invite me and that I could still have cake with them. It was obviously just a pity offer. I declined her offer and went back to my mom telling her I wanted to leave. I held in my tears all the way home and once I got to my room I exploded. The tears came like a waterfall streaming down my…

Imagine a state fair packed with people and every second you get sacked, the fairs like a football game and you’re on offense and you keep trying to dodge the defensive end. The fair is really expensive, the rides are five dollars apiece, when I went on the tilt a whirl the person that operated the ride got on without being in a seat so right before the ride ended he ran into me but for some reason I was laughing hysterically. The guy must have gotten hurt because when I went back I looked over at the ride and then I saw a new guy operating the ride. After that I went on a ride that looked like a spider and that ride went really fast as fast as a rabbit running away from a hunter, I was on the ride for seven minutes it just kept going up and…

When you're a kid you would never think of almost dying at sesame place, but that's exactly what happened to me. As my family and I entered the park, my eyes grew with amazement as I looked around me. There were zooming roller coasters, families laughing, toddlers running around with a sugar high from all the cotton candy they ate, and especially the terrifying, enormous, gray and blue water slide, I looked at the slide with fear and excitement in my eyes. I knew right then and there that I was going to go on that slide no matter the consequences.…

Anyways, on this particular day, something possessed me to be near other children and go on the slides. My favorite slide was a large, yellow, tube slide. It always made me imagine I was sliding down a giraffe’s long neck. It was all going well until the third time I slid down. Breeze through my hair, the whoosh of the wind in my ears, and then I heard…

Busch Gardens, always a fun but time consuming amusement park. Fun with all the shows, thrills, and adrenaline rushes. Time consuming with the traveling traffic, long lines, and an extreme amount of people. Most families leave their kids at home with a babysitter, but other families bring their kids and invite the grandparents who won’t ride the rides. At age five I was tall enough for most of the rides at Busch Gardens.…

While there we also visited my grandpa who lived on a ranch where it rained avocadoes. Gates that had grown green and fluffy moss at the corners opened up. I saw two monster, bright, neon green four wheelers. My heart beating and being the daredevil of my siblings I was jumping with excitement! Once we were all settled two of my older cousins decided to start the four wheelers up. As I heard the engines roar to life my cousins hollered who wanted a ride. The rest of my cousins beat me to the line and I was last. Standing there impatiently waiting and watching as they sped off into the trees and not returning for about twenty minutes each. The anticipation was killing me! While kicking dirt around I heard the engine coming from a distance, Finally my turn! To my luck my cousins were tired and hopped off the motors. My excitement crushed instantly. My dad came to the rescue and told me he would take me. Excitement…

The shrieks and screams of those before me, I later learned, were of joy, not fear. Yet, while I stood in line for California Screamin’, I was positive that I had just condemned myself to approximately sixty seconds of torture when I agreed to accompany my friend on the ride. I took a shaky breath, clenching my clammy hands into fists and staring up at Mickey’s sinister smile on the sign, attempting to trick me into complacency. The sugary scent of churros and the chaotic hum of the amusement park around me did little to console me. The happiest place in the world? Yeah, right. At that moment, I was anything but happy. I was terrified. And I hated it.…
