A Thank You letter
For the past four years, I have been heavily involved in the cheerleading team. I have been a member of this squad since our very first practice in the cafeteria. This sport is my passion, and to prove it, I left my position on the volleyball team so that I could 100% dedicate myself to cheer. Dedication is important to me and I have never missed a practice without a doctor’s note. Since I have joined the team, I have not only grown as a skilled cheerleader, but as a person. It has improved my leadership skills and my social skills. I completely believe that I am the most qualified for the position of team captain, and I have many reasons why.
First of all, I am the only person on the entire team that has served as a top, base and backspot. Therefore, I am fully ready to not only teach others how to stunt successfully in every position, but I know how to watch for mistakes. I can quickly and sufficiently teach new members how to stunt, and also help experienced members to improve.
Second, I have the necessary leadership skills that a captain must have. I am not afraid to speak out and be heard by my team mates. I will get intense if I have to and I will always acknowledge those who work hard. I have the ability to choreograph routines for school performances, which I did last year when I was awarded the position of captain along with Kelsey. When we had a dance team, I took it upon myself to make up dance moves that we used in our routine. I fully understand what stunts go best with what counts, how our jump sequences work, and how much time the team needs to transition from one place to another on the floor.
Lastly, I believe that I am best suited for this position because I am very prepared, as I have had a year of experience in this field. I was given the title of captain last year and I believe that I did a very good job. Working with Kelsey was a growing experience for me. I learned a lot from her during that time including both leadership and fitness

I am a strong team player and where necessary I have taken a back seat allowing more capable members to take the leadership role. For example in the Indian dance team, of which I have been an active member for six years, I contribute primarily as a dancer. Choreography, which is the imperative requirement for a team leader is not my forte and hence I contribute as a participant and I manage the budget or welfare. However this does not limit me from contributing to the team in terms of creative dance moves or stage management. I am open to criticism and consider it essential to share something, which might bring out a better performance. I also encourage the team and organize social events to create opportunity for the team to get to know each other beyond the work…

I have participated in varsity cheerleading since my freshman year of high school. Over the course of these years, I have become a leader of the team. Through these four years, our team has struggled with leadership from our seniors in addition to our coaches. My teammates naturally gravitated towards me for leadership because of my positive attitude, a quality our seniors lacked. As a junior, I became the person that everyone would come to for help because I made it my responsibility to make my teammates feel like they were in a fun and safe environment. When our practices would become hostile, I tried my best to relieve the stress of my teammates and bring positive energy. After practices, many of the cheerleaders would come to me to talk…

This is my second year on the Peabody Magnet High Soccer team, and I was even awarded the Coach’s award for playing midfield and made honorably mention in my district ranking. I also am the Co-Captain of the Peabody Flag line. Being on the soccer and flag teams taught me that hard work really pays off and really forced me to challenge myself. When the flag line first started, we did not have a coach or experience. Although we taught ourselves our own routines, techniques and twirls; we placed and won a 3rd place trophy in our first battle of the bands competition. It was the smallest trophy there, but it meant more to me than any big one could. It just proved to me again that if I put my mind to something I could accomplish…

There are very few people who are lucky enough to be a captain of a team. I am one of those lucky few people. On April 12, I had an audition to try out for a Color Guard Captain position. I had been waiting for that day since early February. On April 15th, the captains were announced. I heard my name, looked at Makayla Hurt, she heard her name, and we could not believe it. Over the weekend, I thought what can I do to help improve the team. Well I can improve skill, change attitude for the better, and how will the decision I made along with our coach of me being a captain affect the team.…

I Noldylens Metayer want to be a captain for the Varsity football team for the 2015 season because from my perspective I think the reason we lose games is because of discipline and mental mistakes. The reason I was man enough to pick up an application is because I want to lead my team to the FCIAC Championship. Another reason is that I want to discipline my teammates if any mistakes are made or any childish behavior is occurrence. And my last reason is to help my teammates in school and getting them extra help. I chose to become a captain because I'm tired of seeing tears coming out of my teammates eyes.…

Over the years, I've cheered for multiple teams. Furthermore, all of the teams I have been on are filled with unique and diverse people. However, the most important thing is that you can trust all of your team mates. Trust is vital for all teams that you are a part of. Whether it is football, basketball, lacrosse, et cetera. If the team doesn't have trust, regardless of talent, it will not be a winning team. Everyone is at risk during any time while cheerleading to be injured and you have to trust everyone around you that they will try their best to keep you and themselves as safe as possible. Also, when you are on a team, you get the chance to become closer to the people who are around you. You get to practice with your team, you compete with your team, and you perform with your team. Sooner or later you end up closer than you once were. That is my favorite part of being on a team. Normally, by the end of a season you all have grown to be a cheer family that are still going to be close even after the season is…

If selected as leader, I would use my friendliness and enthusiasm to encourage the Volunteens to build friendships, learn about St. Jude, and develop a commitment for giving back. Because of the relationships I made during the program, I would urge new Volunteens to build the same, long-term friendships. Additionally, as a varsity cheerleader, I’m used to motivating and exciting others to follow my passion; therefore, I would love to share my appreciation for St Jude with the Volunteens, and encourage them to gain as much as possible from the experience through speaking events, asking questions, and patient interactions. My hardworking, friendly and creative personality would promote a fun environment for the volunteers as well as the children…

Approaching this season, I constantly deliberated if I would play my senior year due to the fact that I am not the most valuable player. However, thinking about not playing the sport I loved with my teammates, I decided to complete my final season. Once deciding to play, I came to the realization that I would not be playing every game and would be sitting the bench. Although for many this would be defeating, I decided to make it a positive role on my team. As a leader on the B side of my team, which plays the starters everyday in practice, I made it my responsibility to push my team to be ready to compete and push the starters to win the state title. At every match while sitting the bench, I decided to take on the role as the team's cheerleader and uplift the team when the brutality of the game struck down its iron…

Leadership is example. Being able to not only use your voice, but use your actions. Having those behind you follow you as you lead by example. This is the ability to translate intention into reality. A captain should lead not by telling his teammates how to do something, but showing them how to. He should lead on the field, make huge plays and his teammates will look up to him and know that he is their captain, and they want to do what he does. If a football player sees his captain playing horrible, and having horrible body language, they will lose confidence in themselves.…
