A Study on Customer satisfaction towards Organised Retailing in Madurai City

Abstract This paper mainly focuses on describing the customer satisfaction towards organised retailing in Madurai city. Besides presenting its structure and format this study highlights the customer satisfaction regarding organised stores. It enlists the factors contribute the consumer satisfaction. It comes out with valuable suggestions based on findings.
1. INTRODUCTION In the recent years the retail sector in India has played a crucial role in the nation’s growth story. It has grown remarkably well and contributed much to the nation’s economy. The Indian retail sector is comprised of both the organized and the unorganized sectors. In the beginning of retail history in India, retailing was mostly done through family owned stores which are generally called as kirana or mom and pop stores. Then the gradual introduction and infusion of western tastes and concepts led it towards massive change in its structure and format. Due to globalization which came into the scene after 1990’s the rise in the per-capita income, equally the rise in the disposable income, the resultant changing life style have become the chief drivers of the retail sectors growth. Retailing consists of all activities involved in selling goods and service to consumers for their personal, family or household use. It covers sale of goods ranging from automobile to apparels and food products, and services ranging from hair cutting to air travel and computer education. In commerce, a retailer buys goods or products in large quantities from manufacturers or importers, either directly or through a wholesaler, and then sells smaller quantities to the end-user

The sample size used in the study consists of 100 respondents of which 50 are consumer of Big Bazaar and 50 are consumer of more megastore retail outlets. The study conducted is analytic in nature aimed at finding out the consumer perception of retail outlets and Big Bazaar and More megastores. The conclusion of the study was that the suggestions were the increase After having analyzed interpreted the findings. It is concluded that consumer perception of retail outlets play a significant role to enhance the perception with consumers and provide total consumer satisfaction. It signifies that several factors, then after set hypothesis to accept and reject hypothesis.
