Jot Down Notes
One day in the school of University of Baguio, Danny was playing basketball in the school gymnasium. Danny was one of the popular guys in school. You can say he’s handsome because he is tall and a lot of girls were attracted to him, even gays. He was the MVP and was like the “basketball heartthrob.” While Danny and his team mates were playing, a beautiful girl passed by. Her name is Julie. Julie was the witty and beauty queen. She was one of the school’s most active and dedicated students of HRM. She simply was the guys’ “apple of the eye.” So when Danny saw Julie, he got distracted from the game. Because of that, the ball hit Danny’s head. Julie laughed and left so Danny got embarrassed. But from that day on, Danny could not stop thinking about her.
It was January and Julie was in the middle of class writing about some Roman God when a crumpled paper rolled on her desk. She unfolded it and a note was written on the paper, “Would you go out on a date with me?” Being in denial, she rolled her eyes and threw it on the ground. Later that day at lunch, a cute guy came over and sat at her table which consisted of Julie and her friends. She acted like he was not there and like she didn’t know him when in fact it was Danny, the “basketball heartthrob” everyone’s talking about. She also remembered him because he was the guy who got hit on the head with a ball. Every girl in the school is apparently going after him, but rumor has it he likes this one girl but no one knows who it is. It was still silent when finally Danny started talking, “Umm… so why didn’t you respond to my note in English?” At that time, Julie being a teenage girl wanted to show how surprised she was but having self-control she replied, “I thought you missed Bella’s (Julie’s friend) desk and it hit mine instead.” Danny looked at her confused so he asked her why she would think

The notions of deception and masquerade are apparent throughout Neil Jordans’ complex story of love, The Crying Game. The subterfuge enters the story on a number of levels and this allows for determining the characters within the film as well as the narrative itself. There are obvious ways in which Jordan has used the idea of deception throughout the film and I will cover these subsequently in this essay, namely through the famous ‘twist’ of the story, as well as costume and perhaps more obscure ways such as language. These means to show the concept of deception, allow the audience to be introduced, wholly, to the characters as well as cleverly playing out the story and its themes. Jordan also cleverly deceives us all through his clever use of ironic language and music.…

I believe in love. I believe that love is painful. Love is not when your “lover” walks by and you feel butterflies in your stomach. That is not love, love is the wrenching pain in your heart. The pain you fear will kill you. The unbearable pain, day and night, hour after hour, minute after minute, second after second, until it is done. gone. That is love. Not hugs and kisses, not love songs or love poems. Love is the devil, mean,, cold hearted. That is love.…

A long time ago, when I was about in the eighth grade, my friend, Armin had a girlfriend named Katyln. It was a weird relationship, then again, I do not think any junior high relationship is normal for us kids these days. He hardly talked to her at school. They mainly just texted each other and said a few words here-and-there at school. Armin and his girlfriend had never even spent time with one another outside of school, so Armin decided to finally go on a first date with his girlfriend. He asked her and she accepted the offer.…

A Farewell To Arms written by Ernest Hemingway illustrates a typical love story between two people, this love story plays out in a war torn Italy during world war I, where Italy was battling Austria, the novels main characters, lieutenant Fredrick Henry an American ambulance driver serving in the Italian army and Catherine Barkley an English volunteer nurse who served in Italy. The novel portrays Henry as a drunk who traveled from one house of prostitution to the next, he was not happy with his lifestyle. Henry feels detached from life and is on a quest for identification, he gives a particular insight about how he feels about women "clear, cold and dry". Henry loved to play the role of a womanizer. He is isolated from his family and compatriots. He is an American fighting a war in another country. In my opinion Henry is emotionally exhausted and it appears he has no place to go. Henry meets Catherine Barkley, near the front between Italy and Austria-Hungary. Catherine suffered during this war before she met Henry. Catherine had lost her fiancé during this war. She was startled by rain in her nightmares. She perceived rain as death. At first Henry wanted to seduce the nurse, to him it was a game, he had told the nurse that he loved her, but she had caught on to his game. Catherine confronted Henry and told him what she thought of his game. He was severely wounded on one of his runs. Henry was sent to the American hospital where Catherine worked. That is where he actually began to fall in love with her. He fully recovered and returned to the war-front, during a retreat the Italians started to fall apart. Henry shot an engineer sergeant under his command for dereliction, later in the confusion Henry is arrested by the battle police for the crime of not being Italian. He is disgusted with the army and facing death at the hands of the battle police during questioning. Henry decided he has had enough of the war, he ran into the river to escape. After swimming to…
