A Separate Peace Rivalry Essay

Rivalry can either be the start of a friendship or the end of a friendship or even the reason a friendship endures even through troubling times. Rivalry is what makes the world go round. When it comes down to it, rivalry is basically how societies of the past have thrived to become the societies they are today. Evidence of this shows in the daily lives of young teenagers today and in international competitions held for the finest athletes worldwide.
In experience, rivalry based friendships are common to form in most relationships. For me, sports have always been a big part of my life, therefore I meet new people in which I do consider to be my competition from the beginning and furthermore. Rivalry I the reason I push myself to be better than what I was the day before. If it weren’t for such a force like rivalry, I wouldn’t aspire to be more than what I am today.
Every four years the worldwide competition between the finest of athletes takes place in a country foreign to one another. For the most part, all of these countries have agreed to set aside their differences and put forth their best athletes to represent them. In today’s modern society where sports are so intriguing, countries set upon chosen athletes, a routine they believe will help them achieve success in athletic competitions such as the Olympics. Year round hard work I put in simply for competition. Rivalry is present even in events taking place for about one week of the year.
Rivalry. It’s present within even the bestest of friends and between countries most foreign to one another. To be better than those around them is the motive of the people in today’s society just as it was in ancient societies. Rivalry can be formed in many places ranging from days in the life of an ordinary teen to worldwide athletic competitions every four years.
