As the population of the world increases rapidly, the rate of consumption of different materials is also increasing; therefore there is an associated increase in the production of waste. This over consumption of materials can be seen in many areas: waste of energy, natural resources and the trees used for the production of paper. One of the fastest growing examples of this type of waste, is the disposal of electrics and electronic equipment, also known as E-waste. According to Heberlein (2006), a brief definition of E-waste might be a mix of waste containing electronic and electric devices. This waste accounts for 4 percent of civil waste in the European Union. Additionally, the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery-DRRRC (2005) suggests that E-waste is the popularised name for the electronic products which are nearing the end of their useful lives and are discarded despite the fact that many of these devices can be reused, refurbished, and recycled. They give the examples of computers, televisions, copiers and fax machines as every day household products which are disposed of. Heberlein (2006) also adds that every year between 14 and 20 million personal computers become trash in the US. Although this might seem like a large amount one should be aware that similar volumes of disposals occur throughout the world. The harm that over consumption has on the environment is an increasingly worrying factor; therefore, in order to solve this growing issue, there needs to be a concerted effort to find a solution. Many options have been offered as solutions to this problem from experts. However they have all proven to be of a temporary nature. Briefly, there are three principle strategies to solve the E-waste problem which can be categorized as Re-use, Repair-Remanufacture and Recycle.…
This is a topic that has been argued almost since the education system started back in the nineteenth century. Back in those days, education was thought to be necessary only for males and the females were considered as someone who only works around the house, does chores, looks after the children and husband. This has changed drastically since, nowadays more and more girls are getting education as the general population agreed that women need to be empowered as much as men do and can contribute equally to the overall development of their society, nation and the humanity as a whole. Though some rural and backwards societies still resist with this concept, this is becoming very rare indeed. The topic of argument though is whether a coeducation system, which means where both boys and girls can study together in the same enclosure, better or is single sex education system, where either only boys or only girls are allowed to get admitted better, I think co-ed is definitely better.…
Since the 1920s Disney has had a large influence on generations of children especially when Disney debuted their first full lenght film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on December 21, 1937. Since the release of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’’ Disney has introduced many other Princesses such as Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) ,Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Rapunzel (Tangled), Merida (Brave) in the last 90 years. Films such as these have often been studied because they are such major source of entertainment for so many children and can have an impact on their social, emotional and mental development. One of the main studies of these movies are the gender messages conveyed through out them. Over the years Disney has worked harder to change this bad reputation by creating stronger more independent princesses and shying away from the “damsel in distress” and has succeeded.…
