A Review Of The Musical Guys And Dolls
11/28/13
Guys and Dolls Review
At the Playhouse Theatre, the musical Guys and Dolls took place. It was presented on
11/8/13, at 7:30 pm. The ticket price to the musical was $12. The actors and directors, along with the back stage crew were responsible for the event. The show consisted of a love story along with drama and action. It also consisted of many songs that were accompanied by different dances. Overall, the show was amazing but had a few setbacks. Some of the things that made the show simply great were: the actors themselves and the dances that were incorporated into the show. One set back was the bright lights.
The actors themselves were a huge part of the show and helped the show become a success. The actors are extremely important in a show because it’s up to them to make or break a show. They are also the main point of attention from the audience and therefore even the slightest mistake from them will not go unseen. In the show, the actors were extremely talented. Every single one of them was amazing and it seemed to me as they did not make any mistakes at all and if they did, they covered them up pretty well. That is the sign of an amazing actor, not that they don’t make mistakes, because everyone makes mistakes, but that they cover them up and pretend like it was part of the show. The actors in the show were not only amazing actors but also amazing dancers especially in the ballet and tap-dancing part. The acting was superb. For example: the specific actress that is in the character of an old lady with a limp holding the basket of apples, is a superb actress and made the limp look extremely realistic. All of this added up and contributed to the show being a great success.
The dances that were incorporated into the show also helped it become a success. The dances are also extremely important in a show because since this show was a musical it needed songs in it. When the actors present a song, they must move around to keep the audience entertained and

The sewer scene in the musical drama Guys and Dolls highlights many directorial decisions and shows many of the different aspects working together. We arrive upon this scene viewing a crap game taking place in a remarkably clean sewer, dimly lit with a cat walk overhead and the projection of gears on the back wall. The atmosphere portrays the theme of dirty men playing clean. The stylized suits the men wear show the world in which they live Broadway! The celebrity culture that is idolized today was in actuality a ploy used to attract an audience following. Stars were created, not born. The Studio System comprised of The Big Five (MGM, Paramount, Warner Brothers, RKO and Fox), who are credited for creating some of the most legendary stars of the time, thus leading to the term ‘star system’. Studios invested a great deal of time and money into grooming and publicizing an actor, and owning him in the process, simply by signing him to a contract. When an actor had inscribed his name on the formidable piece of paper, he had no future of his own. Depending on his talent and the response his image got from the audience, he was either crucial or dispensable to the Studio he had been employed by.…

People who generally suffer from this kind of fraud are anyone in the range of writer to director, who are entitled to receive a percentage of the gross profit that their project generates. It turns out that accusations of using Hollywood Accounting are being brought to court. All the elements in the show went perfectly with the actors, the sets, and the lighting. The whole stage was used and the performers moved around throughout the entire stage. When a show consists of artists of actors’ people can relate to. They tend to bond and somehow find similarities between them and their “hero”. Many start to pay attention to their acts, style, and much more. “Before you know it these celebrities become people’s heroes,” and they start expecting their loved ones and others to act like their “heroes.” For instance, many of the parents compared their children to the actors and they expected them to act the same way as the children in the show. Children wanted their father, and uncle to be just like Danny and Uncle Jesse. Another example would be Uncle Jesse who was the handsome looking, talented, but yet the bad boy that all the viewers were in love…

The set design and the costumes of the Havana Broadway scenes in Act One of the Guys and Dolls production were nostalgic to me. The stories my grandmother told me about her native land of Cuba and those of my mother told me about her hometown of Brooklyn ran through my mind as the worlds they described came alive on the stage. I was enamored with the sets and costumes of these two scenes because it made me think of my family which always has a big place in my heart.…

Acting is about being someone you’re not and being believable. Most of what we know about actors in their real lives is the scandal: who they just broke up with, who they’re cheating on their spouse with, what kind of drugs they take, what they did on their latest drunken binge, and how many millions they spent on their latest home jaw crusher plant.…

importantly votes. Because people love and become inspired by the characters played by an individual and in the end they are in fact become blinded by who that individual really is. It is as if you give a dangerous person, or as I will refer to him as, "an evil dower" some candy. Now a politician by him self is an evil dower who does not have candy. Without the candy it is very hard for an evil dower to attract little children into a car but as soon a candy, or even better a child's favorite candy is introduced, this when put into context being a favorite actor, that is all the child sees and is blinded to whomever posses the candy, thus getting into the car. This in essence is basically the reaction of an obsessed fan when celebrities become involved in politics.…
