Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia among older people. Dementia is a brain disorder that seriously affects a person’s ability to carry out daily activities (Nettina, 2003). It first involves the parts of the brain that control thought, memory and language. People with AD may have trouble remembering things that happened recently or names of people they know, getting lost on familiar routes and even misplacing items. As the disease progress over time, symptoms get worse. They may not recognize family members or have trouble speaking, reading or writing. They may forget how to brush their teeth or comb their hair. Later on, they may become anxious or aggressive, or wander away from home. No treatment can stop the disease. However, some drugs may help keep symptoms from getting worse for a limited time. Eventually, when the disease becomes worse it leads to one’s death (Medline Plus, 2011).         The movie – A Moment to Remember delved into the disease specifically Alzheimer’s disease in each progressing segment particularly where a fire breaks out because of a forgotten stove presenting Su-jin beginning to display forgetfulness which drew Su-Jin and Chul Soo to seek medical help. “I’ll forget everything soon. I won’t know why you’re with me. You’ll be gone from my mind. And so will I. You understand? As my memory disappears, my soul will too. I’m scared. “ – Su-Jin         Even though the story progresses slowly throughout the film, it is still a powerful romantic film that questions true love without memories. Despite the disease, they make the commitment to stay together and as the disease gets more serious, the trials the couple undergo increase because of Su Jin’s forgetfulness. This is proven by Chul-Soo who never left Su-Jin’s side. He made everything to regain Su-Jin’s memory even for a while. But soon, Su-jin is in the final stages of her disease.
