A memorable day in my life
Life is full of various events and experiences. But all of these are not equally important, enjoyable and memorable. Some are memorable. I am a student. There are some memorable days and they remain evergreen in my heart. My first day at school is such a day.

It was the month of January, 2007. I was then only six years old. My father proposed that I should be admitted into a school in class one the next day. I felt very excited. I could not think of anything else. I was always thinking about the school, the teachers as I watched on the TV. I could not even sleep well that night. The next morning my mother woke me early in the morning. She washed me very well, combed my hair and dressed in new clothes. Then I had breakfast and started for the school with my father. He took me to the nearest NHF Primary School of our locality at 9.30 am. The school was not very far from our home. So we walk all the way.

It took us half an hour to reach the school. When I stepped inside the school compound with my father I was somewhat afraid. I saw many students on the school campus. Some were playing; some were talking to each other. Finding me in a new environment my heart began to beat.

At first my father took me to the headmaster’s room and requested him to admit me in class one. At first I felt a bit nervous and shy. But his smiling face and gentle eyes put me at ease. He asked me my name and I answered him. Then he pointed me a letter chart and asked me to say some letters. I could say them all because my mother taught me them at home. Then he became very pleased with me and admitted me in class one. Then he called Ms Fatema, the class teacher of class one to take me to the class. She welcomed me and took me to the class and gave me a seat. All the students in the class were staring at me. I felt a bit nervous once again to see the new faces. But soon I became very easy. The class lasted 35 minutes I had four other periods with a break of 30 minutes. I found that all my teachers were careful, friendly and helpful.

At the leisure period all of my classmates started playing in the field. I felt very lonely and was loitering here and there. Then they invited me to join them. I started playing. I felt myself like a free bird flying in the open sky.

My school broke up at 12 pm. My mother was at the gate to receive me. I leapt into her arms. She kissed me and caught me at her arms. Thus I finished my first day at school. I left the school at with new experience and cheerful mind. I shall never forget the day as long as I live.

The bus finally arrived at its destination. I enthusiastically got off the bus facing the school gigantic gates. Since it was my first day, those moments supposed to be awkward and nerve-wracking. On the contrary, they were not because my older sister accompanied me to the school. So I felt so secure that I had no negative foresights about anything. I noticed seeing the doorman sitting on a chair in front of the gates. Despite the difficultness of noticing the smile on his wrinkled face, I could hardly see him smiling at me when he opened the gates for me to enter. My eyes gleamed by seeing the world behind the gates. I was very elated to see many girls wearing the same as me. To my great surprise, one of my second cousins was there with her mother. I was so happy that her mother left her with us.…

The classroom was bright and colorful. It was like a world of wonder. We hung our backpacks up in the small cubbys and got settle in our seats. Each of the desks had our names on them. Some of the kids were accompanied by their parents on the first day. My mother didn’t come with me. She said I was a big boy and I would be fine. As Ms. Bishop was walking down our class schedule on the chalkboard, I decided to go introduce myself to my classmates. I have never been a shy person or afraid to meet people. “Good morning, everybody and welcome to your first day of kindergarten,” Ms. Bishop said.…

Everything was loud. The overstuffed bus of children was leaving the school parking lot for its normal route of sudden stops, unforgiving bumps, and of course, transporting students to their destinations. Opposite from every other child on the bus, I sit quietly in seat fourteen listening to the screaming laughter and shrill excitement of the conclusion of another school year. I sit there in silence because I knew that it would be my last bus ride home. I was trying to take everything in: the smell of the old brown bus seats, the half opened windows that tried to keep us cool, the pleasantly plump and incredibly sweet bus driver, and the jovial and rambunctious sounds of kids cackling and yelping. At every stop, I could literally feel my heart drop a little. As the bus neared my neighborhood, my mouth was completely dry. When I saw my house, my heart stopped. There was the moving truck. It was symbol of my leaving home, and the realization that the move was going to happen, and that I had no control over it.…

Three years ago, I came into a world full of dreams, but these dreams can take you down if you don’t pay good attention. I am the first born in my family. Before I came here, I was so afraid to come to a new country, which I didn’t know any thing about. I was somehow confused, and the biggest fear that I had was about adapting to a new culture. After some days of being at home, I was taken to school where I met so many student, teachers, and other nonteaching staff. Although I didn’t know anyone, all the people I met welcomed me, and I really appreciated the welcome. The school counselor called one of the students and told him to show me my classes. Then the boy took me to my new class, and when I entered, all eyes were on…

I was fully optimistic that the day would go well, but it did not fall in the plan that I believed it would. It was the same routine in a new environment. My first day at Larned High School started like every first day before me. The principal, Mr. Langdon, gathered all the students and welcomed us into a new school year. The speech as long but informational. It was a familiar speech that I had heard every first day of school. Unfortunately, this familiarity would end, and now I was stuck roaming the halls in a new school looking for my first class.…

For this project you will write a narrative essay about a significant moment of your life using the literary strategies of plot, character, and setting. This should be a moment when you learned something important about yourself or someone else, or about life. You will develop your story through the use of contraries, creating tension that moves the story forward and gives it significance. You can discuss the importance of your story explicitly, perhaps as a revelation, or you can imply it. Either way, it should be clear that you have contemplated the significance of the event and have pushed your thinking past the obvious, surface-level impact. The focus of your narrative should be “The Moment,” with only enough background to convey its understanding to the reader.…

It was a bright, cloudless sunny Thursday afternoon around 2pm; my mother and I decided to go grocery shopping. As she drove through the driveway, she saw a DHL delivery package dropped in front of the house dated third of March, 1988. When opening the package, an urgent warning letter was address to her from my elementary school Principal. Immediately, she opened the letter and read through it, her eyes turn red and started shouting on me! Saying; why don't you concentrate on your study? Instantly, I started crying so heavily. All of a sudden, she calm down and looked at me with complete love and said; "This is just a warning letter." Then, assure me that she will be there for me in terms of helping me with my studies and daily homework. In addition, she explains that one must never give up and to keep trying. In fact, the mistake I made was not concentrating on my education, which led to a warning letter from the school Principal that I would not be allowed to return for my last year of elementary school because I had not maintained 5 passed subjects. As a matter of fact, not going to school regularly, not doing my homework, and not doing some extra reading at home had caused the letter sent to my parents. This mistake got me in trouble with my mother.…

The most memorable day of my life was, September 4, 1995 in Chicago, IL. It was 6:00 a.m. when my alarm clock woke me up. The first day of high school was finally here. I was excited, but a lot more nervous. I got out of bed, got ready, and then was on my way to the bus stop. All I could think of is the stories I heard about high school being so horrible with all the mean teachers, the hard tests, and of course being a freshman does not help either. The bus ride to the school was only 30 minutes, but it seemed a lot longer. When we finally got there, I was more nervous than ever. The day ahead of me was about to get a lot more complicated or the start of something great.…
