A Magical Night to Remember
A Magical Night to Remember: JS Promenade 2012
Emmanuel Joseph Mamaril

The JS Promenade, the event that all the Juniors and Seniors have been wishing and waiting for since the start of the school year, has finally come true. Speculation and curiosity can be seen and heard everywhere before the actual program, but this event all came to life through the efforts and careful planning of the Junior Class Organization and the teachers. They really worked hard to make this evening very memorable to those in attendance. This Junior Senior Promenade was held in our school gymnasium last February 12, 2012. The program proper started at around 6:30 pm. As the students were arriving in their lavish attires, they were being serenaded by the band of the Seniors, which comprised of Kim Hilario, Marlon Carigma, Jao Santos, Denzel Villaremo, Abbylyn Balicanta, Maureen Villapando, and Antoinette Santos. When almost all of the students had already arrived, the program proper finally started. The hosts that evening were Joy Claudine Quintos and Nicole Justin Alarcon, both from the juniors. The program was simple, yet very meaningful for everyone. The program started with an invocation given by Marielle Rosales, and the ceremonial toast. After that, dinner was already served. After eating the delicious meal prepared by the caterers, the last will and testament of the Seniors was delivered by the Student Council Organization President, Emmanuel Joseph Mamaril. The speech was very formal and contained the legacies of the seniors that they would like to pass down to the juniors. The much awaited “Who is who” among the Juniors and the Seniors came next, which contained personalities from the 4th year and their counterpart 3rd year student. This part of the program was presented by Mr. Orient Rex Repollo and Mrs. Ma. Fatima L. Montoya. The turn-over speech, given by Maria Cecilia Hiyao, the president of the Senior Class Organization, came next. She delivered her heartfelt speech

This year’s event we did the theme of Remembering Our Students/ Recordando Nuestros Estudiantes. In relation to the current movements regarding Black Lives Matter, police brutality, Ayotzinapa 43, school shootings, and indigenous women missing. I think this event is important to our campus, because SCSU is a diverse campus with very close minded individuals. So this brings the aspect of culture and tradition with the Dia de Los Muertos celebration and MEChA’s activist focus of political issues. These two combined can provide knowledge and awareness to those students who are unaware or misinformed. As well as taking on the problem of cultural appropriation with the recent American popularization of sugar skulls and Dia de…

The method of concluding traits about a character is known as characterization, and it is when an author lets readers know any kind of information regarding the characters in a story. The two types of characterization are direct and indirect. Direct characterization occurs when an author directly states a trait of a character. Indirect, on the other hand, is used when the author shows a character 's trait through their actions, thoughts and speech, appearance, or that of another character. Truman Capote 's short story "A Christmas Memory", is about a young boy, referred to as "Buddy," and his best friend, or older cousin, who is unnamed in the story. As a tradition, the two friends bake fruitcakes and send the baked goods to acquaintances they have met only once or twice, and to people they have never met at all. They live in a house with other relatives, who are authoritative and stern, and have a dog named Queenie. As the two try to make the best of their Christmas, complications occur and Buddy is sent off to military school, thus making it their last Christmas together. Buddy 's friend would be characterized as: childish, kind, and religious.…

Most of the high school students experienced the Junior and Senior Promenade. In my 3rd year and 4th year high school JS Prom, I can say that it was really fun and tremendous. Even though the space of the venue is not enough for the number of BED Students, it turned out successfully. We are like the properties of Solid. We are the particles locked into places, there’s only little free space between particles and lastly, particles cannot move past one another. Next is the boy-girl dance. The boy-girl dance is like different protons and electrons, different charges attract each other.…
