A Letter to Me
Dear Maryann,

Wow I never expected I would be asked to write a letter to myself, I always thought letters were for other people. Maryann you have been the foundation for your sisters as well as your self. You have had such a tough journey but have managed to pull through with a smile on. When you lost your mom at thirteen I know life seemed like it was ending but it was only the beginning, it has shown us you are a brave, intelligent and caring young woman. I remember the day when mom died like it was yesterday you had no idea what was going to happen; you were more concerned about the girls than yourself. You were forced to move into an abusive home where you were mentally and emotionally abused daily. You had an alcoholic father who didn’t give a rat’s ass, but you would turn around and tell your sisters life will get better. I know you strived to keep life as normal for you girls as possible even when you moved eight times in four years. Then you finally fought for your self you proved that you were determined to go to college and live a different life then you were brought into. You taught the girls everything they needed to know, you showed them to be independent and only rely on their selves. This was the key for you that they would be ready to be without you when you go away for college. When things were finally turning around for you, life was good you got accepted to college’s you seemed as though you knew you had the future in your hands. Life seemed perfect nothing else could possibly go wrong. But then it flips and someone had to take that all away from you. He crushed you right there on that cold January night in the mall parking lot, he tried to take away your dignity and self respect and self worth he wanted you to think you were worthless. I know you didn’t think life was worth it, I know you tried to kill your self but when it didn’t work you knew that you needed help and that you were worth getting the help. You got help

Although having unhealthy food is quite valuable for many students, we should propose something that would benefit the school and the students. I recommend we start replacing unhealthy food like chips and soda pop with more nourishing food like yogurt or fruit juice. This would not only help having healthier food but also persuade students to eat healthy. Another way we can start the process of healthy food is through using the power of posters in which we can advertise about all the advantages of keeping a healthy yet effective food diet. If us grade nine students start eating healthier this would make us great role models for the younger students who would also want to eat food high in nutrients. By applying these methods the grade nine students will still be able to attend there adventure camp in spring every year and also exercise the benefits of eating much healthier.…

At the surface, the letter Lord Chesterfield writes to his son appears to simply offer his son simple sound advice with the intention to help his son. It seems that he is trying to give his son this advice in a friendly manner as opposed to a father giving his son advice. However, upon closer analysis of what Chesterfield writes, one can see how he is actually subtly reminding his son of his obligations and duties. Using strategies such as understatements, diction, and rhetorical questions, Chesterfield subtly leaves reminders to his son that shows what Chesterfield holds as high values: obedience and reputation.…

For the past four years, I have been heavily involved in the cheerleading team. I have been a member of this squad since our very first practice in the cafeteria. This sport is my passion, and to prove it, I left my position on the volleyball team so that I could 100% dedicate myself to cheer. Dedication is important to me and I have never missed a practice without a doctor’s note. Since I have joined the team, I have not only grown as a skilled cheerleader, but as a person. It has improved my leadership skills and my social skills. I completely believe that I am the most qualified for the position of team captain, and I have many reasons why.…

I can only image how difficult it is for educators and parents to demand respectful behavior (from students and children), amidst the normalization of disrespectful behavior. Thinking nothing could get worse, things began to. I became extremely unhappy because I had to start over without having my father by my side the whole way. Not having him there with me when I had to start a new school was even harder for me. When I started the new school I was completely nervous, thinking that I wouldn’t make any friends. But then I was wrong, I ended up making a friend on my first day. Trying to make new friends was the one thing I was so worried about, since I was so young. After I had to leave my father I felt nothing good was happening for me. He was my world, my best friend. My dad was the one person I looked up to because he raised me. When I moved I felt like a huge piece of my heart was missing. That’s when I began to go downhill emotionally. I didn’t know how to just move on since I moved in with someone I hardly knew, and that is when I thought my life couldn’t get any better, but I was wrong in the…

I was born November 5, 1997, in San Pablo, California. My mother, Chablis, and father, Damon, never got along after my birth. Till this day my father isn’t in my life. My mother has always taken care of me and my other five siblings as we lived in Richmond, California at the time. As far as I can remember my childhood was amazing. Spending time with my family, enjoying the days as they passed was amazing. Having five other siblings didn’t always mean fun and excitement 24/7. There were times where we didn’t fancy each other’s company. I can remember the best time we had with each other, it was about seven years ago, December 25, Christmas was great that year. There were an abundance of gifts for and from everyone. We played with the toys for hours, all day long. That was the first time when it was one day of happiness that lasted the entire day.…
