A 2-Page Fantasy Story.
A hero named Jenny.

‘Jenny, you have to wake up now it is twelve o’clock and you’re still sleeping!’ my mom shouted from downstairs. I forced myself up from the bed, changed to my everyday clothes and hurried downstairs. ‘Good morning.’ I said. ‘Honestly Jenny, sleeping until twelve o’clock is not a good habit.’ she told me. ‘Well, I don’t see why you think it’s so bad,’ I replied. ‘I go to bed later at night than you do, and therefore I wake up later.’ I explained, but as always, there are two different sides to every discussion between me and my mother, and again as always, mine was not the right one. Luckily it was Saturday; my favorite day of the week, which meant that it didn’t affect my mood as much as usual. I went up to my room, grabbed my soccer bag and headed out to play with my friends. On the soccer field we played a couple matches before most of my friends had to go home. Eventually the only people that were left were me, and an unknown man who sat on a bench reading a newspaper. As I packed my bag and started walking home the man came towards me. ‘Hi, are you Jenny Harris?’ he asked. ‘Yes, can I help you?’ I replied. He didn’t look like he was from Manchester. He looked around making sure no one else were nearby, took his hand in his old, worn out jacked and pulled out a silver necklace. ‘I want you to wear this.’ He told me. ‘Why?’ I asked him. ‘This necklace is your protector; it will keep Yan Lo away from you, which means it will keep you alive.’
I looked at his face, waiting for him to start laughing and telling me I’m on a hidden prank show, but his face was dead serious. ‘Can you please explain what you’re talking about, whoever you are, because this makes no sense?’ I asked him. He sighed and said: ‘OK, I’ll explain everything to you, if you put on the necklace,’ he said. I hesitated for a moment before I put the necklace around my neck. ‘Yan Lo has come back to earth in attempt to destroy the world, which he did not succeed with last

“Napping – she got home a few hours ago.” I followed him into his bedroom and looked to my mom’s side of the bed, the one next to a window. It must have been late because lamp lights from the parking lot streamed through the cracked blinds. Where mom’s sleeping form should have been, the covers were turned up and the pillows were missing. “Maybe she went to spend time with a friend?” I suggested at my dad’s curious gaze. A niggling…

I woke up in terror, I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t move, all I could do was sit there with shear fear. How is it that after all this time I still have these terrible dreams filled with uncontrollable guilt? Fifty years ago, Fifty years ago and even after all this time I can't seem to ease my pain. Hearing Mary call from downstairs I got up and headed to the kitchen. Mary is my live in maid. “Good Morning, Montresor. How did you sleep?” She looked actually concerned; I should just tell her it might help to tell someone. No, that is a terrible idea. “Good morning, Mary. I slept well thank you for asking. I'm headed to the study let me know when breakfast is ready.” I walked slowly into the study, I know I shouldn’t go in there, every time I…

I was tired and had looked forward to a nice and quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.…

A hero can be real or fictional but either way a hero goes through the same stages and has choices to make to help others at whatever cost. Someone may not seem like they could be a hero but by doing what they can, could help make a huge difference in someone’s life. Being a hero is not always what movies and comic books make it out to be; a hero can be a regular person being generous. A simple adventure story often includes underlying life lessons. According to Foster's article, Every Trip Is A Quest, a quest narrative contains questers, a place to go, challenges and trials, a stated reason to go, and a real reason, self-knowledge. The video game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, succeeds in using the quest narrative by implementing subconscious life lessons with every challenge that the brothers encounter in order to achieve the ultimate goal. Video games with quest narrative have become very popular because they are literature told through virtual representations. Ithaca use words to deliver the story to readers while a video game presents hints of self-knowledge during the game, and discovering these messages will encourage a player to reflect on his own life. This essay will explore the connections between Foster’s definition and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons to demonstrate elements of the quest narrative.…

I took the opportunity and sat against it, resting my legs for the first time in days. Nobody knew what time it was, all of the clocks were broken. Watches were for the rich, and if you stole one, it was always stolen again. And again and again and again and again and again until someone dies, as this world is a cruel reality for us. We are human, are we not?…
