Throughout the course of the novel, the audience is exposed to the two sides of the Zabinski’s family: Jan’s side and Antonina’s side. Both Jan and Antonina saved the lives of hundred of Jews during the Holocaust. For these reasons, when Jan incorrectly labels his spouse as a “housewife”, he is aiding D. T. Max’s theory that Antonina is more than a “housewife”, but “the alpha female in a unique menagerie.”…

In Antonina’s List, an article published in 2007 for The New York Time’s Sunday book review, writer D. T. Max states, “For me, the more interesting story is Antonina’s. She was not, as her husband once called her, “a housewife,” but the alpha female in a unique menagerie. I would gladly read another book, perhaps a novel, based again on Antonina’s writings. She was special, and as the remaining members of her generation die off, a voice like hers should not be allowed to fade into the silence.”…

What exactly does being a veterinary technician entail? Think of a nurse, but rather than assisting a doctor and helping human patients, they assist veterinarians and tend to animals. That being said, a veterinary technician must enjoy being around animals and have a desire to help those in need. A veterinary technician will usually perform clinical work, such as blood tests, urinalysis, they can expose and develop x-rays, assist in a variety of diagnostic tests and more while under supervision of a licensed veterinarian. The typical patients helped by a veterinary technician are cats and dogs, but in reality, a veterinary technician can tend to any type of animal. According to VeterinaryTechnican.com, many veterinary technicians work in a clinical setting such as an animal hospital or private veterinarian’s office. Additionally, many of them work in zoos, aquariums, and research facilities (2012). A veterinary technician can also become a specialist with additional schooling to perform procedures such as anesthesia, surgery, dental work, behavioral training and more. The Bureau of Labor Statistics claims that while many veterinary technicians find…

Zoos appear to be fun, but as you get more in depth are they what they seem to be? If animals could talk they would answer that question with “no” but, they cannot. So, instead of them telling you the horrors of zoos, I will. In zoos, animals are forced to live in a small area and have to learn to adapt to a new lifestyle. Some animals suffer from serious problems that they would most likely not experience if they were not in a zoo. Zoos affect the animals wildlife, their natural behavior, and zoos cause injuries and deaths upon animals and humans.…

    (1. Salary). As a zoologist, I can choose many different jobs. In a zoo, my job would be to observe and to take care of animals directly. Creating educational materials for zoo staff and visitors is something else I can do in a zoo environment. I can oversee wildlife reserves. There I will be doing things such as counting animal populations and/or studying the behavior of certain animals within the reserve. (sokanu) I will not always work in natural settings, though. I will most likely be working in a controlled lab-based environment to study biological aspects of my experiments. (sokanu) Instead, of working in the research field, I can also work as a professor teaching college and university classes. I may write reports, scientific papers, or journal articles, too. (sokanu). I want to be a research zoologist that works in a wildlife reserve and maybe remote areas every so often.…

In order to become a veterinarian, however, I must first attend college, and work diligently to earn good grades. I want to study biology in college, because I enjoy learning about living organisms and their habitats. During college, I will try to earn more experience and knowledge by working as a veterinary assistant, getting an internship, shadowing, and/or helping with research to, hopefully, become a competitive candidate for veterinary school. After, completing veterinary school successfully I will be able to practice as a certified veterinarian. Although I am unsure as to what type of veterinarian I want to become, I like the idea of working with zoo animals and…

According to the article,” If we are to save many wild species and restore and repair ecosystems we need to know about how key species live, act and react. Being able to study animals in zoos where there is less risk and less variables means real changes can be effected on wild populations with far fewer problems.” Zoologists use zoos to study animals instead of going out into the wild to study how the animals act in their normal lives. The article also mentions that,” Things like capturing and moving at-risk or dangerous individuals is bolstered by knowledge in zoos about doses for anaesthetics, and experience at handling and transporting animals.“ Zoologists can use the research they conducted at their zoos in a real world animal crisis, such as transporting dangerous animals to constructing…
