1. Find a list of all 10 of Zappo’s Corporate values. Pick two of the values and explain how you think those values would influence the way employees do their work.

Two of Zappos corporate values that I think influence the way their employees do their work the most is (1): Building open and honest relationships with communication and (2): Build a positive team and family spirit. Building open and honest relationships makes employees feel as if they are in a safe space and that their opinions and thoughts would be taken seriously while the feedback given is constructive. Building a sense of family and team spirit within an organization creates comradery between employees. Its important as a manager to make your employees feel as if they are as close to home rather than just working a 9 to 5 job.

2. Using the list of Corporate Values, describe Zappo’s organizational culture. In which areas would you say that Zappo’s culture is very typical?

The area in which Zappos culture is very typical is Pursue Growth and Learning. I think this is very typical of any organization and you can find it throughout different companies across the board. Managers would love to advance the company through pursuing growth and learning.

3.How did Zappos Corporate culture begin? How is Zappo’s corporate culture maintained?

Zappo’s corporate culture began when Hsieh first invited 300 employees to list the core values the culture should be based on. Not only did they come up with a list that sound good on paper but, they formed a list that everyone agreed to live by.
Zappo’s continues to maintain this culture that they created by conducting monthly employee surveys that examine the pulse and health of the culture.

4.The right culture with the right values will always produce the best organizational performance. What do you think of this statement?
