Z6 House As A Sustainable Approach To Sustainable Design

Introduction
In order to study sustainable approaches to design, I’ve selected the building Z6 House, as the focus of short research report project. By studying Z6 House, I intend to focus on concepts and methods of sustainable design that the design employs as well looking in to its results. Some specific thoughts regarding such results are cost and gain of sustainable practices in terms of money and furthermore in terms of its occupants. Aim
The aim of the report is to understand the methods integrated in the building to make it sustainable and how the constructional procedures were carried out so that it minimizes overall environmental impact.

Project Overview
The Z6 House is a single-family residence that was added to a multifamily-zoned lot with an existing duplex. It has four bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The house serves as both a residence and a model home for a line of green, modular, single-family dwellings offered by the owner's business.
The house is constructed of factory-built modules that were built on the site-built foundation over a period of 13 hours. The structural slab-on-grade serves as the finish floor for the first level. A roof deck offers views and a green roof with vegetation native to southern California.

A 2.4-kilowatt photovoltaic array and a solar hot-water collector take advantage of the sunny location, as does the day lighting strategy for the interior.
To create flexible interior spaces, all bedrooms have moveable wall partitions that can be opened to common areas for more space. 3.2 Environmentally Sustainable Design Principles
The construction and operation of buildings can have a significant direct and indirect impact on the environment. Including Environmental sustainable design initiatives in the design reduce operation costs and environmental impacts and can increase building resilience.
