Chapter 40 – Oxygenation YouTube videos

32bravo711. (2014, January 3). Brief Physiology of Oxygenation [Video file]. Retrieved from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cie544oWvhY

I really liked this video. It’s very thorough as far as it’s content. The video has great visuals, is easy to understand, and the speaker or creator of the video is knowledgeable and easy to listen to. The cons I would say about this video are that it is very lengthy for a YouTube video. It’s a lot like a lecture you’d get for an online class you might be taking and so students might find that off-putting. The biggest con would be that it goes into a lot of unneeded information when considering my audience is nursing students. There is a lot of information that nurses don’t necessarily need to know.

The videos from this particular user are great for nursing students because this guy is a nursing student. Martin Reyes, the user who uploaded the video, apparently makes these videos, speaking about what he learned in nursing school that day along with tips on studying. For the nursing student this is great and helpful for studying. They video is short, easy to understand, and summarizes the oxygenation lecture for a nursing school class. The cons are that it is rather boring, it may be difficult to rely on information on a subject from an inexperienced nursing student, and while it summarizes oxygenation very well, it doesn’t go into very much depth.

Simpkins, S. (2014, January 3). UW School of Nursing Oxygenation Song [Video file]. Retrieved from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHatR96cBxw

I have a soft spot for these videos that use a song for teaching purposes. We know that every student learns in different ways so by presenting a video using a song to help remember important parts of

I think it is awesome that you are using the information you learned in the class to teach others. It's important to spread your knowledge and open up those opportunities for others to become better within their careers. Staff that is more knowledgeable and understandable of the importance of EBP, will lead to better patient outcomes. I like that we now know how and where to research new protocols being implemented so that we can educate ourselves on the importance of these changes. When changes are put into practice, we are not always told why. By simply educating the staff and anticipating resistance to change, current evidence based practice is easier to…

Yes, the video was very informative. What stood out to me was that the people with mental issues aren't getting the same care as others. The main theme that I see is how singing can bring out so many different emotions in people. All of my singing that I have done in my life has somehow related back to feeling an emotion. From singing at Relay for Life to Singing during the holidays in my town, emotion was always floating in the air. Another example of music affecting me emotionally would be listening to my brother play his violin at my aunt’s funeral. His playing of the famous song Ave Maria was very touching and brought out tears in everyone because it was my aunts favorite song. Even though these are all sad events, it created an emotional bond and brought my family together even more than…

Lisa, I want to thank you for your post. Practicing nurses must be sure that the interventions they use are based on solid evidence. Through continuing education, practicing nurses can become aware of the research on performing activities. As nurses we have a responsibility to be researchers. As nurses we should collect and share evidence of methods of practice and measure outcomes of these practices. In working with patients and watching other nurses working with patients I concluded that some patients did not understand medical terms. After watching their reactions to certain medical terms I can tell that these patients had no idea what I was talking about. After coming to this conclusion I started to use simple lay terms and can see…

When you graduate high school most of us look forward to going to college and starting a new chapter in our lives. There are many choices of fields to choose from when we enter college. Some of us know right from the start what we want to do and some of us don’t. I have had many ideas of what I might want to pick as my career for the rest of my life. It first started out with wanting to be a teacher, and then it changed to a veterinary technician, and finally with lots of thought and research I have decided I want to be a Respiratory Therapist.…

As a nursing student, I am particularly glad that I was exposed to the concept of medical errors this early on in my training so I can actively define my role in preventing them. The documentary reminded me that I am entering a profession where my actions have real and significant consequences. A sloppy or incomplete performance in medicine is unacceptable and I must find the best way to become as competent as possible. I was immediately encouraged to become a better student in the classroom, to work harder and retain necessary knowledge that I know may be of great consequence one day. Additionally, since my skills have not yet been fully established, I can take certain measures to ensure that bad and perhaps dangerous habits which can lead to errors, do not develop.…

In my main issues I discuss the motivational aspects of popular culture, why teachers might feel insecure or unwilling to use the student 's personal interests of popular culture in the classroom. Also how popular culture can be used to understand the cultural values of foreign countries and societies.…
