Our Youth Camp

We represented the Visayas team last International youth congress held at Davao city, Philippines. We were very tired of travelling from Cagayan de Oro city going to Davao City. But we still enjoyed the travel when we saw the different spot and attractions in Bukidnon. Along the road we saw a wide plantation of pineapples and bananas so we stop over and bought a one whole of pineapple for only 25.00php only. Wow it is so delicious, the sweetness and sourness of it are in balanced. Then when we reached the camp located at Catitipan, Davao city besides Davao international Airport (DIA). We were so glad to met other youth that came from different countries of the all over world and many of the events are waiting for us to enjoy such as Cheerdance, folkdance, sports games like basketball and volleyball for men and women, indoor game like chess, scrabble, word factory, and bowling, there were also an outdoor games like amazing race throughout the vicinity of Davao city, horseback riding and fishing contest in Brgy.Tamayong, Calinan, Davao City, were our prayer mountain is located or we called it the Garden of Eden restored. There were also musical events such as solo singing for both male and female categories, choir for every teams, minibands and solo instrumental and lastly the multimedia event like radio broadcasting, TV broadcasting, radio announcing, teleradio, web designing and music video making. And one of the big event in our camp is the birthday celebration of our pastor, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy. He dedicates his birthday for all of the children across the nation. Every branches of our church celebrated the birthday party of our pastor through feeding and gift giving in deepest barangays where the children doesn’t celebrate his own birthday before. It is the grandest, largest, birthday celebration I had ever joined but every team Luzon, NCR, Visayas, Mindanao, Davao, and Foreign has an assignment. 2 days before the birthday

Friday. T minus 15 hours till the last day of camp. The Saturday volunteer cancelled. My game plan was crumpled up and trashed. “Why hadn’t I thought of backup plan?” I asked myself, on the verge of pulling out my hair. I hadn’t taken into account all the variables and now I was receiving the repercussions. I had no idea becoming the Transportation Coordinator for a camp would be so stressful.…

An often forgotten aspect of the home front, the United States detained more than 400,000 Axis prisoners in rural camps during the war. According to the provisions as agreed upon by the Geneva Convention, POWs could work if they received pay and their employment did not contribute directly to the war effort. To help alleviate the severe shortage of workers in the United States, tens of thousands of the former enemy combatants labored on farms and in canneries and mills.31…

My writing workshop experience as a freshman was successful, time devoting, and different. It is different from my past experiences in writing, because I had the opportunity to chose my own topic, and had most of the year to improve each of my pieces. I enjoyed the process, and thought it was very helpful to receive feedback from both my peers, family, and teacher. I had enough time to edit mistakes I missed the first time around,, and the chance to receive edits from others who had different perspectives and ideas on my pieces. Teacher conferences were the most effective, because Mr. Ferges was very honest, and not only showed me my grammatical weaknesses, but also my writing weaknesses in specific spots that needed improvement. My favorite…

When I was younger I would have been described as shy and reserved. I was like an un-blossomed flower. My life has since changed drastically. Many opportunities came across me such as taking a cruise with family and business friends, being nominated to be a Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) 7170 member of 2015 at SUNY Oneonta, and being chosen to go to a National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) for Medicine in Boston 2015 at Babson College.…

My writing has changed a lot in my first-semester essay writing class. I finally took a class that teaches me useful information and how to properly write an essay. Essay Writing overall was a fun experience it was a slow start for me in the beginning but once I was able to get the work done I was fine. There were a lot of positives to taking this class. I started the year struggling to come up with ideas to write about nut now I can brainstorm and put my words down on the paper better than ever. “If I could travel anyplace in the world for free, I would want to go to North Korea. I would love to see what it's like.” I struggled with proper punctuation and the use of commas and such throughout my high school career and I still struggle with it I hope to learn more about it in the near future. “Cars are one of the best inventions ever.” I needed some direction on making my sentences longer with getting to the point at the same time. There's a lot of small things I need to still improve on but I feel like I got a good start with the Essay Writing course. I got a lot of useful feedback from Mrs.Pennings on all my essays like when to use certain words and proper punctuation and some compliments the really…

Middle school was really weird time for me. It seemed like it was the most dramatic / drama filled. Our school at St. Peters was messed up, anything that could happen did. I've had teacher come up to me and ask for answers to what happened. Students doing bad things and etc. Also middle school to me was so fun, because people who I like got in trouble because of me. If you weren't my friend at St. Peters you better hope that you weren't mean to me, because if you were the teachers would find out what you did and they get in trouble.…

With these new generations of kids, it's important to relate god with them at their youthful years. It's better to start it while they are still young because they are probably the most curious at that time in their lives. It's really nice how every year we get an increase in Huynh Truongs because they are the ones who kids look up to, they are their role models. I still remember the days when I was just a little Thieu Nhi, who didn't care about anything but play games in TNTT. I looked up to these two Nghia Si friends and as time flew by they became Huynh Truongs. It was pretty cool how they began being my Huynh Truongs and they were playing around with me back then but now they are the ones teaching me. I feel like I was able to connect more with God after being able to see them change and grow because of God.…

Child abuse is the physical injury of a child inflicted by a parent which ranges from superficial bruises, broken bones, burns, serious internal injuries and in some cases, death (Prevent Child Abuse America). Child abuse is a topic that causes rage in many discussions throughout the country because it is outrageous actions against innocent children. Many parents question whether discipline can become child abuse. Bell Hooks is an educated woman, feminist, and writer who has dedicated her life to teaching people about civil rights that every human being deserves. She wrote an essay in which she addresses her personal view on the way children should not be hit under any circumstances, because it neglects love; according to her, love and abuse cannot coexist. However, it is unfair to claim that a slap on the hand is considered abuse, and that if parents commit this type of action, they do not love their child. There is a huge difference between physical punishment and child abuse. A child needs to learn right from wrong, and when the child’s actions turn out of control, it is acceptable to spank or hit them in the hand. As long as the hitting stays to a minimum degree, physical punishment is not child abuse.…

For this essay I decided to go with the option to describe a person, place, or scene that represents Miami to me. The very first thing that came to my mind as I read the question was the Dade County Youth Fair. Since my family and I came to this country, we haven’t missed a year. I am able to recall all of the sights, smells, and taste that I experienced along with the many rides and games we played and the important reason why we go year after year as a tradition.…
