Young Outsiders And Young Outsiders
I thought I would’ve been an independent when I took this test since I’m already an independent and I think very differently from everyone else. The test results proved that I was indeed as a young independent. About 13% of the population is a young independent, this relatively young, largely independent group holds a mix of conservative and liberal views. While more lean toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party, Young Outsiders generally show the lack of opinions of both major parties. They are largely skeptical of activist government, as a substantial majority views government as wasteful and inefficient. Young outsiders are one of the youngest age groups, about 30% of the people are under 30 years old.
Government aid to the poor does more harm than good

They end up becoming dependent on the government to help them and pretty much give them free stuff that they don’t have to work for. In my personal opinion, I think the government should help them find jobs that they are qualified for instead of them just giving the poor free stuff. Most Americans have to work for everything they want or need, with the government does this for the poor it puts us in more debt. More young outsiders agreed to the government is doing more harm than

In the 1960's there were gangs that influenced the culture in The Outsiders. They were not called Socs, nor Greasers, but they were similar to them. What gangs were like then: - Rumbles/ getting into fights - Stealing - Kidnapping - Jumping people - Carry weapons (guns, switchblades, and small knives) How gangs influence the culture: Both gangs in The Outsiders seem different which makes them split apart and fight against each other. The Socs seem like they were a high-class gang.…

I do not specifically identify with democrat or republican. I think that both parties have some good things on their agenda and there are also things that I don’t agree with personally, that are on both the democratic and republican agenda. With that being said I would like to consider myself an Independent. I think it’s common for people of my age (19) to not fully commit to one party.…

Today more than ever, people are grouped into social classes based on their friends. You could be considered popular, or lame. This is not just true for middle school, but also life in the 50s. The book The Outsiders focuses on two main cliques, the Greasers and the Socs. One might think that the name represents Greasers, and what they have to deal with, but the real outsiders are specific people. The outsiders are the people who dare to be different from the stereotype of their group, who believe people should be judged on who they are, not social class. Major outsiders in the book are Darry, Ponyboy, and Cherry Valance.…

“What a lot of people don’t realize about gangs, in my opinion is that gang is not there to attack you. Eighty percent of people in a gang are there to stop anyone from attacking them. You join a gang for protection, not to go out and hit someone”- Micheal Caine. In other words, gangs are suppose to be like family, protect each and be there when they are in trouble. Although the Socials and Greasers are considered to be young teenage gangs sharing the same passion to be noticed for who they are from the inside and not the outside, they differ in terms of personalities. In the novel, The Outsiders written by S.E Hinton, two groups are introduced. These groups are the Greasers, the East-side poor kids, and the Socials, the West-side rich kids.…

"The book that helps you the most is the one that makes you think the most, and expands your knowledge of life and human nature." I am in total agreement with this statement. I believe that that the best books are the ones that expand your mind and teach you about the facts of life. The quote portrays that books are only significant if they have made you think. The book I read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton supports this statement in many aspects. The book depicts a society where two dominant, opposing gangs prevail in a town that just isn't big enough for the both of them. The main character, Ponyboy, his brothers, and friends are part of a gang known as the "greasers", due to their poor appearance and their greasy hair. The antagonist gang is known as the "socs", a vicious gang of rich kids whose idea of a good time is beating up greasers like Ponyboy.…

For as long as humans have lived on this earth, we have found a need to help other humans that are less fortunate than us. From the reign of Augustus in the Roman Empire, to today’s controversial welfare policies in the United States, history has recorded the charitable actions of society to provide for those that cannot provide for themselves. The United States has always practiced some sort of welfare policy since the beginning of colonial times. When the colonists migrated to the future United States from England, they brought with them a set of welfare policies known as the British Poor Laws. Under these laws, citizens who had health problems that prevented work were given cash or alternative forms of assistance from the government. Citizens who were healthy but out of work were given public service work. Today those “poor laws”…

Background does not matter when you are a hero. In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, the author argues that heroism defines a person by their actions not by their background, history, or looks. The events at the church, the incidents that happened before the church and the aftermath all show the changes that happened over time that would eventually negate Ponyboy’s history and background and regard him as a hero. There are different points of heroism in the story and different forms of heroism in the story but for now we are going to look at the most important three, Cherry acting as a spy, Ponyboy rescuing the kids and what he was defined by before he was a hero.…

My political viewpoint has changed dramatically since I was first introduced to politics. I come from a democratic family, where it is strongly believed that it is the government’s responsibility to care for all people and that the government knows what is best for all people. Every voting season, my parents vote for a democratic president and explain to me the reasoning behind their decision. It was not until I was in the tenth grade that I realized that I did not hold the same political beliefs as my parents. After taking several political quizzes and extensively researching the bevy of political parties, I now know that I am an independent. What is an independent? An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political…

Therefore, political identification as expressed through partisan or political party identification is somewhat damaging. Someone looks at the world through Democratic, Republican, or Libertarian-tinted glasses. To the extent that partisan identification represents ideology, this is understandable: ideology has been likened to a lens. However, it is hardly comforting from the perspective of citizenship, which mandates a well-informed and open-minded citizenry capable of making objective decisions about voting, not discarding information that does not neatly fit into their ideological beliefs. Although the authors are quick to point out the limitations of their sample size in the…

Around lunch time in the late spring three juvenile delinquents saved five children from a fiery blaze up on J mountain in Windrixville. “The blond haired one went in first.” a witness said, “Then the smaller lookin’ one, followed by the bigger guy.” She paused, “They saved the children, their heroes!” The first one to enter the church is named Ponyboy Curtis (14), he has suffered from smoke inhalation and minor lacerations. The second to enter was Johnny Cade (16). And the third was Dallas Winston (17). Dallas also has suffered from smoke inhalation and second degree burns on his arm. Unfortunately Johnny Cade has smoke inhalation, third degree burns all over his body, and a broken back.…
