You Ll Never Walk Alone From Carousel Analysis
After listening to Rogers and Hammerstein’s list of musical hits there was one song which in my opinion stood out from the rest. This song is titled You’ll Never Walk Alone from Carousel. Initially, what made this song so appealing was Rogers and Hammerstein’s ability to capture human emotion and the importance of perseverance. Additionally, I enjoyed how this song elaborates on the importance of optimism even in the darkest of times. Also, on a more personal note, this song spoke of my past from an outside perspective.

For example, when I was 20 years old I was living in a homeless shelter with my two daughters. Despite this, I never gave up on my dreams and goal for the future. Such as attending and graduating from college. (Which I did

Rodgers and Hammerstein changed the face of American musical theater by blending the elements of drama, music and dance. Six of their eleven musicals were a huge success. Their first production, Oklahoma! was on Broadway for five years (1943-1948). They brought musical theatre closer to classical…

For my song I picked Garth Brooks “The River.” I consider this song to be very meaningful. This song is about chasing your dreams and never giving up on what you believe in, reminding us that life is shorter than we think and if we just stand on the shore watching the river go by, then life will be gone before we know it. Garth Brooks uses a lot of psychological concepts in this song, such as, Attitude, Affect, Motivation, Optimism, and Behavior. Garth Brooks says, “A dream is like a river.” A dream changes, just like a river changes. As life changes, the river can be calm then strong then calm again, so our path in life change. Garth Brooks says that “He will sail his vessel until the river runs dry.” To me this mean no matter what life throws…

My dad grew up wanting to be a firefighter. Once he grew up, he decided to put that dream into action by actually becoming one. My dad had to work through the many physical and mental challenges and tests in order for him to make his dream come true. However, when he met my mom and they were instantly in love. After they got married, my mom spoke to my dad telling him that if they were going to have a family, my mom wouldn't want to have to worry about his safety, because being a firefighter is very dangerous and stressful on a family. So, my dad decided that being a dad was more important to him. Although it was still hard for him to know that his hard work to become a firefighter was all for nothing. Another example of when my dad had to persevere was when he had a seizure. My dad had 3 seizures and he told me that he felt as if he wasn't in control of his body. He said that knowing he didn’t have control was one of the scariest things he has experienced. He had to work through fears going through his head, but also physically. He had to go through many tests and recovery assignments that required him to persevere physically. Overall, my dad has worked very hard to get to where he is now and that is why he is a great example of showing what perseverance can…

Most teenagers do not have a clue about what they want to be when they grow up. Most young adults also do not know where their path is in life. Even some full-blown adults are still trying to figure out their purpose. I was lucky. I knew exactly where I belonged from about the time I was seven up until now, at the decently young age of nineteen. I do not see my path changing anytime soon; in fact, I know it will never change. But, I did not just wake up one day as a child and know what my path was, while that would be impressive. Defining moments in one’s life defines who they are. I first thought I was going to change the world or at least make a difference through physical therapy. That was what I had my mind set on, even throughout high school. But then my world turned a complete 180. I had to move to Nowhere, Texas with my mom, dad, two older sisters, and their kids (my niece and nephew); Charlotte and Cillian. It was weird, hard, and the last thing I ever wanted. Although the move had nothing to do with my career goals, it was another thing that I questioned along with everything that was going on in my life at the time.…
