Having something in which to believe is a strong factor in shaping your identity and giving a sense of belonging and purpose. Every single person shares more or less the same basic desires and needs. So without individual beliefs everyone would have highly similar personalities and be more or less the same. What a person believes in defines them giving them individual traits, goals and personalities, and dreams. Every single person has beliefs and values whether they intentionally create them or they simply form in subtle, unnoticeable ways, which shape who that person is.
