The article pinpoints how racism and oppression towards Blacks starts through media, works itself into institutional oppression, and instigating racial thoughts among the rest of society. Media has continued to impose the idea that African Americans are second class citizens. This article is a great find and will work well in showing the similarities

    Is Racism a Permanent feature of American Society? Derrick Bell argues in this issue that the prospects for achieving racial equality in the United States are “illusory for Blacks. Bell reminds us despite the fact of the progress of blacks in United States; the legacy of slavery has left a portion of the race “with life-long poverty and soul devastating despair”. Bell believes that race consciousness is so imbedded in whites that it is virtually impossible to rise above it.
