Bikram yoga, also known as “hot yoga” is a type of Hatha yoga and was developed by Bikram Choudhurry. This type of yoga consists of twenty six different poses and two breathing exercises. Bikram yoga is practised in a room or studio that is toasty and well above body temperature. The temperature of the room usually sits around forty degrees Celsius. The purpose of the heated room is to allow deep muscle stretching while preventing injury. This type of yoga aims to increase general health, rejuvenate the body, enhance flexibility, relax and reduce stress, boost the immune system and flush the body of toxins through perspiration.
