Use appropriate emergency procedures, and provide appropriate care to swimmers.

Attend National YMCA certification trainings, regular in-service trainings and other trainings and meetings as they are held.
Abide by the YMCA Aquatics Safety Code of Conduct.
Learn the names of members and greet them when they arrive at the pool. YMCA Lifeguard Job Qualifications and Skills
The minimum age to work as a YMCA lifeguard is 16.
You are able to swim at least 500 yards.
A recognized Lifeguard certification CPR for Professional Rescuer (including AED) of YMCA, Red Cross, or others.
Oxygen Administration
Standard First Aid.
Possess all YMCA of Silicon Valley mandatory trainings within 90 days of hire:Completion of skills test, including 2 minutes of treading water with hands
