The forts are not very nice. They're made from wood, a lot of things are, bugs and snakes get through the walls and come into our fort. I don't really like staying here, no one does. It is really uncomfortable and not healthy at all, but we don't take it for granted. Lucy really doesn't like sleeping anymore because even when we are on the trail, sleeping under our wagon, bugs and snakes can get to us, just like they do here. We can't use the water from the Platte River because it is too muddy, sandy, too thick and unpleasant to drink, and it's too thin to plow. We can't cross the river, because it is way too difficult. Fort Kearney just seems like the same as walking on the trail. Our family wrote a letter to my parents describing the trip and some obstacles we have ran into so far, we wrote in the letter that we will write the next letter to them when we arrive to let them know what it is like. We then go to the general store that is located here and we buy the Conners the wheel that they kindly lended to us. We bought three more tires to replace two more tires just to be extra safe and to have a spare in case something bad happens again. Our wagon train is staying here for two
