Everyday millions of people fly in an airplane but no one person knows who is responsible. The ones who are responsible are the Wright Brothers. On December 17, 1903 the Wright Brothers did the unthinkable, invented the airplane (Wright-Brothers.Org). The airplane is still widely used today and every day. As a result of the invention of the airplane the Wright Brothers forever changed aviation history. The Brothers invented the airplane, officially started the “air race,” and created new technology. The Wright Brothers were the ones who invented the airplane. The airplane has made huge advantages in the things that we do every day. Everyday people have a package that we miraculously transport to some other persons house. The way that we do this is by shipping, which took a long time 150 years ago mostly by train or car, mostly by an airplane. We have to thank the Wright Brothers for the ease of being able to ship things all across the world in a quarter of the time it would take without the airplane. Also they made it easier to travel wherever we want. Before we had to take a train or go by car which took days to weeks to travel to another state. Now, thanks to the invention of the airplane, we could fly across the country in 6 hours, which is so much easier than it used to be before. The airplane not only aided everyday people but also the armed forces. It aided the armed forces in fighting wars, they could attack from above. Just imagine not being able to attack from and having to fight on the ground, it is very tough. When you attack form above you get to see the whole battle field and not just 100 feet in front of you. It also allows you to survey the land before hand so you can accurately plan your battle. That is a huge advantage when it is a life or death situation such as war, which is a

Guglielmo Marconi is to the telephone pole as the Wright Brothers are to the airplane. Both of the people noted were inventors of great items, though they hadn’t invented the ideas of their works. Off of the subject of inventions, this essay will discuss a strange subject. Are great men hard to understand? In the book “The Chosen “ by Chaim Potok, Mr. Malter makes the statement “Great men are difficult to understand” in regards to Reb Saunders. This statement could also be associated with the Wright Brothers, the creators of the first controllable airplane. Their motives for wanting to abandon their humble, and comfortable lives, to compete in a race to create the first airplane will never be completely explained. All great people, including the Wright Brothers, are hard to understand.…

On December 17, 1903 crewmen John Daniels, Will Dough, Adam Etheridge, W.C. Binkley, and Johnny Moore, a teenager from Nags Head, would witness an event that would change the world forever. The Wright Brothers would make history in achieving the first sustained air flight. While this flight lasted only 12 seconds, it was nevertheless the first in the history of the world in which a machine carrying a man had raised itself by its own power into the air, had flown forward without reducing speed, and had finally landed at a point as high as that from which it…

Wilbur Wright was born the middle child of five. His father, Milton, was a bishop in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. His mother was Susan Catherine Koerner. Younger brother and playmate, Orville Wright was four years younger than Wilbur. Wilber and Orville grew up sharing a love for aeronautics and flying. Always on the road, their father would never fail to bring back toys and gadgets for the young Wright brothers. On one occasion, Milton brought back a small, model helicopter for the boys. They soon were remaking models of their own. Wilber Wright had always been a bright and hardworking child. He excelled in school and planned to attend Yale University. One day, however, an accident occurred which drastically changed Wilber’s life. In an ice hockey game, Wilber was badly injured when another player’s stick hit him in the face. His face and teeth eventually healed, but he continued to have heart and digestive problems. After this incident, Wilbur faded into depression. He decided against his plans for college and retreated back to his home. Wilbur spent the next three years desperately nursing his dying mother back to health. She died of tuberculosis in 1889. Around this same time, Orville was losing interest in school. He wished to pursue the printing business. So that year, 1889, he dropped out of high school and opened a print shop. One year later, Wilbur joined…

The Wright made an airplane that resisted more than the other ones and had wheels, that's the reason why they were successful. They were the first to fly, but not to do an airplane and that is a fact. Historians know that the Wright weren't the first to fly, but they were the first SUCCESSFUL people to fly.…
