Expectations & Summer Assignment for Students in AP European History

AP courses give high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. It is my expectation (but not a requirement) that you will take the AP exam if you register for an AP course. While students are not expected to automatically have college-‐level reading, writing, research, and analytical skills, they are expected to live up to a college-‐level work ethic. Advanced Placement European History is a rigorous course designed for committed, motivated students who have already established a record of academic achievements, especially in Social Science. With this understanding, I am excited that you have registered for this challenging and interesting area of study and I look forward to working with you during the 2014-‐2015 school year. In an effort to keep you informed and help you prepare for the year ahead, please be aware of the following information about AP European History:

1. This course will cover an extensive curriculum and move at an accelerated pace. 2. The primary format for this course will be lecture and class discussion. 3. Students will have summer reading and writing

On the day of September 11, 2001 the World Trade center was attacked by the Al Qaeda terror network. They hijacked our own commercial air-liners and flew straight into the towers. It was not till May 1st of 2011 that we finally brought the head of the attack to justice. It was TEN whole years later for us to locate him and bring him down. He slaughtered 2,792 people just in New York City. Americans from all over the country gave over 2.2 billion dollars to help charities set up for 9/11. The country still mourns over dead relatives and brave men; we may never get over this terror attack on our own soil.…

In my opinion I do believe that there are so many factors that influence the use of different drugs. Social, family and intimacy factors can be the reason they start to use the drug of choice. Drugs affect people differently and I truly believe that people do not start out using drugs any type of drug to become addicted to it. I firmly believe that when a person starts out using any type of drug they believe or do not even think about the addiction factor. I believe that the addiction is a result of not dealing with other problems in that person’s life. It has just been in the last few decades that warnings and restrictions have been placed on chewing tobacco.…
