World War 1 Long Term Causes
World War One did not come about because of one problem that happened and it did not begin immediately either. The tensions and causes that prompted the first world war were long term as well as short term causes. Some of the long term causes were imperialism, militarism, nationalism and alliances. Some short term causes were the assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne and the declaration of war made by Austria. The war and its ending will have a long lasting effect on future conflict, diplomatic relationships and American Society.

Have you ever wondered why World War I started? In the late 19th century European leaders thought that by creating a balance of power, meaning all major countries in Europe had equal strength, such things like war could be stopped. However, Germany made and alliance with Austria-Hungary and Italy. France, Britain, and Russia then made their own entente or agreement between their governments. This spark came in the form of a Serbian group called the Black Hand assassinating the Archduke of Austria. So what were the underlying causes of World War I? The war started for many reasons but there were three major reasons: the formation or alliances, militarism, and imperialism.…

Causes of WWI and the War of 1812 The causes of World War 1 were simpler a reenactment of the War of 1812 because of the neutral shipping between countries at the time where America was usually denied the right to trade with other countries, the extreme nationalism and imperialism of the forces involved which antagonized the opposing sides, and the incidents at sea that occurred and swayed public opinion for a declaration of war. Russia is a militaristic country; this is because Russia thought their country had the best military. This caused them to get into a lot of disagreements with other countries. Militarism was a direct cause of World War One because countries could get the idea that they have better militaries than there, so it created a sense of cockiness in the citizens which therefore led to militant conflicts.…
