World Of Warcraft Character Analysis

The cultural values of race and class are prevalent in the gameplay of World of Warcraft. To avoid gamer oppression, the online game has created unrealistic races and classes for each of the characters. Players can enjoy gameplay without having to choose between human races, such as White Caucasian or African American. Furthermore, the game has two factions that the gamer must choose between, known as the Alliance and the Horde. Both of these factions have different mythical characters that users of the game can pick from ("World of Warcraft.”). Ultimately, these factions are comparable to the character’s race. Additionally, in World of Warcraft, class is the primary adventuring style of a player character that is decided upon a character’s faction or race. …show more content…
If players picked to play in the Alliance faction as a night elf, it can be played as the following classes: druid, hunter, rogue, warrior, worgen, and monk ("World of Warcraft.”). In contrast, if players prefers to play in the Horde faction as a blood elf, it can be played as the following classes: mage, paladin, priest, warlock, and monk ("World of Warcraft.”). As a result, there are equal advantages and disadvantages to each of the factions and classes. Gamers experience fairness in all aspects of the game and are able to disregard the modern categorization of race and class. This allows the player to appreciate the simplicity of interacting with others online. Ultimately, players can remove themselves from the classifications of humankind that exist because the systems of power.
