World Famous Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
Imagine opening the menu to a five-star restaurant and seeing the Chef’s Special for the day is his “World famous Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich”. After following my simple instructions on how to make the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich, you would think it belongs in a five-star restaurant. After learning about the history of this simple sandwich, gathering your ingredients, and following the steps I will provide you with later on in this essay, you will realize you’ve been doing an injustice to this sandwich by making it any other way. The first known reference of putting peanut butter and jelly together on bread was in the United States around the early 1900’s. When peanut butter first became popular, it was only found in the finest of tearooms in New York City. Around the 1920’s is when peanut butter went from a delicacy and moved down the social ladder because the price of peanut butter declined. That is when peanut butter had become popular with children and families across the United States. Peanut butter was a good, cheap, and delicious alternative and a readily available source of protein. Now that you know a little bit of history behind the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, let’s get started on making it. Before we get started on making this world famous sandwich, we must first gather the proper ingredients and tools to help make this process easier. First, go to a grocery store and purchase a loaf of bread (Wonder Bread is recommended, but use your preference). Buy one jar of peanut butter (creamy or chunky, brand not specific) and one jar of jelly (Smuckers, grape or strawberry is recommended). Pay for your groceries and leave the store.
