Journal Entry
If I was a union soldier I was help other States safe and secure. What I feel about slavery is unacceptable. I think everybody in this world deserve equal treatment. If the people have slavery we should all be slaves, if some people are free we all deserve to be free. I hope that the U.S will improve and that there will be no more civil wars. The war has taught me that civil wars are horrible because we are fighting against each other in the same country. I hope that this will never happen again. I believe that we should end this war quickly so we don’t lose any more people in war. I am a soldier of the Union side, because I decided to help my side.

V. Comprehension/Critical Thinking Question
Why did Abraham Lincoln issue the Emancipation Proclamation? The Emancipation Proclamation by President Lincoln was a strategic move to serve the main purpose for fighting the Civil War. Lincoln always believed that the Federal Government had no right, under the US Constitution to outlaw slavery. He tried to assure the South before he took office that he had no intention to abolish slavery where it already existed. As history has shown us, this made no impact on the leaders of the South. They were concerned about Lincoln's motives and they were concerned that the Southern "slave" States would eventually be a huge minority of States that had legal slaves.

In what did the hardship of the civil war provide new opportunities for women? The hardship of the civil war provide new opportunities for women was Equal rights Back then when women got their rights they were either nurses or engineers and sometimes pilots.
