Wonder By R. J. Palacio Essay

Wonder Over the summer I read a novel called “Wonder” written by R.J. Palacio. It is an inspirational book about August ,a 10 year old boy, who faces many hardships in his life. Going into middle school is a big deal for August Pullman because he dose not look like the other kids in his class. What kind of challenges will August face while trying to get through fifth grade? August Pullman is a very extraordinary and courageous boy who wasn't like everyone else. He was born with a rare birth defect that caused his face to be disordered. He had a sister named Olivia who stood up for August when people were rude to him. Auggies parents thought that if his family kept protecting him from the real world he would never grow. Therefor they sent him to brech prep middle school. At first he did not want to go to school because he thought he was going to be made fun of. This issue was resolved when the principal Tushman gave Auggie a tour of the school and called in a couple of student. Mr Tishman asked these stundenet if they could be extra friendly to August in school. August middle school experience was filled with ups and downs. His fellow classmates got used to his face, and he found good friends called Jack and Summer. Just as things were getting good for August Pullman his dog died and overheard Jack talking with other friends saying that he was forced to hang out with him. The end of the school year was approaching and there were a sleepover camp trip.
In fact, I think it is my favorite book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone because it is so inspirational and it teaches you not to judge others. The quote ‘Why blend in when you were born to stand out’ is a great quote that goes along with this book. In the beginning nobody really wanted to go near him or touch him because they judged him and didn't actually get to know him. But In the end, everybody liked August. In conclusion, I thought this book was very
