Explain two health concerns when using wireless technologies? What are the official positions of the FCC and MCMC? How Cellular System Infrastructure and call setup procedure from MS to BS and from BS to MS. 2

Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA)and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)all have strengths and weaknesses. Investigate these three types of multiple access and develop a chart indicating the advantages, disadvantages, and how each multiple access is currently being used. Also include a list of at least two devices that use the technology. 3

Discuss three different antennas currently used in wireless communications. Include the characteristics and a common application for each. 4
Investigate adaptive array or phase array systems. What applications are they used for and what are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of system? 5
Investigate the deployment of all the 4G networks in Malaysia. Include information on the types of technology deployed.

A considerable body of evidence proves, beyond reasonable doubt, that microwave radiation from mobile phones and cordless phones cause a significantly increased risk for brain tumors. In addition, increasing evidence is indicating that it causes disturbed brain function, damage to the genes and other disturbances.[1]. During the study of the effect of wireless devices on health, it was discovered that the brain tumor issue is a minor thing compared to many other harmful effects. While brain tumors affect a small percentage other serious effects affect the whole population including genetic damage, sleep disturbances, reduced learning capacity, concentration difficulties and psychological problems. [1]

A study conducted by US National Cancer Institute found that employees in seven industries in eastern US who were exposed to microwave signals at workplace for about 20 years experienced a ten fold increase in brain tumors [2].

FCC claims that EMR exposure on ground level from base stations is safe. Cellular and Personal Communications Service (PCS) base stations in the US are required to comply with the RFR limits that are recommended by expert organizations and government agencies responsible for health and safety.
