Wilt Chamberlain, a hall of fame basketball player died yesterday, October 12, 1999 at his house in Bel Air, California. Standing at 7'1" he is remembered as one of the most dominant centers in NBA history. Chamberlain broke many records in his long, successful career, most notably scoring 100 points in a game.
Wilt Chamberlain was born on August 21, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played basketball at Overbrook High School in Philadelphia scoring 2,200 points in his high school career. Chamberlain was heavily recruited by many of the top college teams and eventually decided to play at Kansas. In 1957 Kansas made the NCAA tournament where they lost to North Carolina.
