“In tragedy people are tested by great suffering and must face decisions of ultimate consequence. Some meet the challenge with deeds of despicable cruelty, while others demonstrate their ability to confront and surpass adversity, winning our admiration and proving the greatness of human potential” (Aristotle). The character Macbeth is an archetypal paragon in Shakespearean literature; he truly embodies the title of the tragic hero. The aspects that lead to the Protagonist’s downfall are countless; three major factors contribute to his progression to the tragic hero. The first being the prophecies from the witches, Lady Macbeth’s malicious influence that disoriented his counsel and lastly his ambition to achieve greatness by becoming King.…
"All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be King hereafter!"(line 50) declares the wyrd sisters in Act 1 Scene 1. In The Tragedy Of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, we follow a journey of nobleman named Macbeth that starts out being a courageous, loyal, and honorable hero to many people and ends up later becoming a tyrant King of Scotland, in which this power portrays Macbeth as the archetype of a tragic hero. The flaws that lead to his degeneration was his sense of ambition, and his influence and manipulation by his wife which drove his desire to be King. Macbeths need for power changes fast from a heroic person gaining power to a power hungry person willing to let go of his noble title in order to reach higher and take control. Macbeth character goes from a noble and patriotic soldier to a violent individual which soon leads to his downfall and portrays his archetype as a tragic hero.…
Lady Macbeth is a very manipulative and clever character, whose attributes and feelings change throughout the play. At the start of the script, she is a very driven and strong character, pushing her beloved Macbeth to go do the dark deeds that he needs to do to get to his eventual goal- to become king and rule all of Scotland. But little does he know that she isn’t doing it just for him- she wants the power more than anything else, to be able to rule and have it her way. Before the night of the murder, Lady Macbeth shows her drive behind her husband; “When you durst do it, then you were a man.” This is after her first try of pushing Macbeth to do the dirty deed of killing king Duncan, and where the not so strong opinionated Macbeth is having second thoughts. She taunts him with the thought of him not killing King Duncan would not make him a man, and admitting that she would even “dash’d the brains out” of her own child, to make him feel weaker, twisting his mind to make him do the crime. Using the harsh word of “dashing” gives the reader a strong and horrible picture in their head, of Lady Macbeth ruthlessly killing her own child by “dashing” its brains out and basically ripping it apart, showing her dedication and desperation for the role as Queen of Scotland and to her husband, but in a very gruesome and disgusting manner. It also shows her mad side that she would do that even to her own child, but I will explain further in the second paragraph.…

In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth portrays many qualities of a tragic hero. One particular quality Macbeth portrays is hamartia. The witches address Macbeth as Thane of Cawdor and “All hail Macbeth! That shalt be king hereafter” (1.3.53), both of which he is not. With Macbeth’s new title as Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth starts wondering if he will likewise become king. Macbeth, being a noble, is not in a position to rise up to the rank of a king however; he is very ambitious. Macbeth’s ambition leads him to irrational and bizarre actions such as murdering Duncan and Banquo. Macbeth’s hubris also motivates the murders made by Macbeth.…
The witches on the other hand contribute heavily to the 'drama'. Their prophecies accelerate the already-scheming and ambitious man in Macbeth and lead him to commit the horrifying crimes, which ultimately, cause his downfall. Their appearances in the play are the darkest, gloomiest aspects and signify the power of evil being able to tempt man into his own downfall.…

Isolation is a state of being separation between persons or group, or a feeling being alone. There are different factors that contribute to someone feeling alone and isolated. An example of this would be when celebrities go into deep depression because they feel isolated from the whole world. They have all the material things they could ever want, but the one thing they want the most, they do not have. , which is happiness, which comes from satisfaction within oneself and being satisfied with what one has done in one's life. Feeling isolated does not necessarily mean a person is bad. Evidence in Shakespeare play Macbeth , demonstrates this quite clearly that MacBeth's isolation comes from guilt , over-ambition and greed.…
Macbeth is a tragedy in which the main character, Macbeth, is told by three witches that he will become king of Scotland. He then made the decision to kill the current king. Macbeth becomes king but has to kill more people so that he can keep his power. Eventually everyone, including his own army, turns on Macbeth. He is forced to meet his fate. It can be argued that Macbeth’s ambitious behavior is what causes his thirst for power and that the witches only play a collateral role in his inevitable downfall.…
The main character, Macbeth is a classic example of a Shakespearean tragic hero. At the beginning of the play, Shakespeare defines Macbeth as a hero very clearly to the reader. However, as the play progresses, Shakespeare gradually indicates that Macbeth is a tragic hero. There are many factors that contribute to Macbeth¡¦s degeneration.
