William Shakespear

Early Life:
William Shakespeare was born April 23, 1564 to Mary and John Shakespeare.
Three days after birth, Shakespeare was baptized at the Holy Trinity Church.
He grew up with his other seven siblings in the small town of Stratford-Upon-Avon.
His father was a glove maker and his mother was the daughter of an affluent farmer.
Shakespeare saw his first play when he was four and instantly fell in love with them.

Marriage and Family Life:
At the age of eighteen, Shakespeare had a shotgun marriage to 26 year old, Anne Hathaway. Six months later, their first daughter Suzanne was born, May 26, 1583. Later on, they had a set of twins named Hamnet and Judith born February 2, 1585.
Unfortunately, Hamnet died at the age of eleven from unknown causes.
The years following the birth of his children are called “The Lost Years” where he was supposedly perfecting his dramatic skills.
Education:
Although there are no surviving school records, it is believed that Shakespeare would have attended King’s New School around the age of seven.
The curriculum was very rigorous; they would study the classical education of Greek mythology, ancient history, Roman comedy, Latin and grammar.
School was from six in the morning to six at night, Monday through Saturday.
After only seven years of schooling, William was no longer able to attend the school any further because of his father losing favor with school officials.
Also, due to his father’s financial debt, Shakespeare was unable to attend a university.

Achievements:
Shakespeare and his group, The Chamberlain’s Men, build the famous Globe Theater for his plays.
In 1550, Shakespeare wrote his very first play, Henry VI, Part One.
With his group becoming so popular, they had the honor of preforming in front of Queen Elizabeth.
After his start of prose comedy, Shakespeare wrote one of his most famous plays, Romeo and Juliette.
Throughout his whole career William Shakespeare wrote a total of two narratives, 38 plays and 154 sonnets.

Later Years and Death:
In the 1960’s, Shakespeare retired from his work and moved to New Place.
After his daughter and soon to be son in law separated, he re-wrote his will, cut him out and gave his inheritance to his two daughters. Shakespeare died at the age of 52 from too much alcohol consumption.
He died on the same day that he was born, April 23, 1564.
Shakespeare was buried in the Holy Trinity Church and left a curse on whoever moves his grave.
