The definition of engineering is the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, creating, and use of engines, machines, and structures. It is a profession where the forces of nature are directed to the benefit of mankind. I want to discover that benefit, I want to change the world for the better, and that is why I want to be an engineer. An ocean engineer specifically. I feel that the ocean is just a large pool full of possibilities, there are uncharted waters and new discoveries that still await, and that excites me. I want to be a part of the next chapter of technology, where humans use the sea in a partnership in order to gain more for us without damaging the delicate ecosystem below the waters. I think this is the largest challenge we may face, but I am ready and willing to conquer it. I feel that, just as in anything else, one’s attitude is a huge part of what they are going in to. It is important to love what you do, and do what you love which is why I find comfort in my decision of becoming an engineer. This will not be a boring job, new obstacles will present themselves every day and that will definitely keep things interesting; but as an engineer, as a mathematician, and as a problem solver, I think I can handle that.…
