* Women were taught to slay themselves rather than dishonor the family line by getting raped…
To support the evolutionary perspective, the division of labour was shown to be an advantage. Men were the hunter gathers, breadwinners, while the mother was at home acting as the ‘angel of the house’ and looking after the children. If a women was to hunt, this would reduce the group’s reproductive success, as the woman was the one who was pregnant or producing milk. Although, the women could contribute to the important business of growing food, making clothing and shelter and so on. This enhances reproductive success but it also important in avoiding starvation – an…
Since agriculture took off, women’s status as workers decreased. With rising populations, women now more frequently became child bearers and homemakers. While the men worked in the fields, the women stayed home and took care of cleaning and raising the children. This was true in both the Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations. This resulted in a less respectful view of women.…
Going back to era of the 1800’s leading to the 1920’s onto now. Women were born to a life of just having a domestic role in their lives. Being a housewife was their only job. Cleaning, cooking, and taking care of their children were their normal way of living. Therefore, doing something out of the ordinary at that time was considered unacceptable and immoral. Although women wanted to enhance their role to be able to work or go to school, it was not until the 1920’s that they started to begin to change. They decided to change in many ways that women through out the years such as Alice Paul, Susan B. Anthony, and Margaret Sanger begin to emerge to empower other women to stand up to fight for their rights. Ever since, women have continued to change their place…
Societies differed from each other in many ways. For example, in one society women are seen inferior (meaning weak, given light jobs, and are even abused.) Some people that abused of their wives were the Ju/’hoansi men. This may seem to some people as male dominance. When reading about these people one can infer that these people have no leaders, but even if they did they would not be women. Verses the Chumash people who had one high chief, a male, and yet all the villages had their own rulers, among them one would find women. Yet, these people still had a few things in common. An example would be they would hunt animals and gather berries, roots, and nuts.…
Was the development of gender inequality natural or was it created by early humans? That is a question that scholars studying global history are still asking today. Although gender in global history has been explored recently, it is clear that woman’s political and social status was usually inferior in most literate civilization of the classical period as we know from Hughes essay. But the question is, was gender inequality a natural occurrence or was it developed in early literate civilizations? That is a question that even prominent scholars cannot answer.…
inequality was shown between genders. Women began to lose less of their leadership or power…
4. Why did the status of women decline with the spread of agriculture? (Chapter 2, p.18)…
From 8000 to 6000 B.C. the peoples of ancient civilizations developed a new way of life, changing the structure of gender roles, jobs, and beliefs. This time period of important changes was unavoidable because without the changes that were made the people would have become extinct, or not evolved into what we are today. An important change during this revolution was the domestication of plants and animals. Without this vital factor of life if homo-sapiens still existed, they would be uncivilized because they would still be nomadic, as they would need to find a food source. Another factor that would've changed our lives today if this revolution had not happened is gender roles. Since people would be nomadic, the woman may not be portrayed as less important. The woman would not have to stay at home and care for the children because like their predecessors, the whole clan would need to forage for food and resources.…

The development of gender inequality is a mystery of the world. It is an explanation of what real contrast we have between opinion, stereotype, and reality. The different sexes are unique and amazing each in their own ways, but many parts of society proclaims its different levels. Gender inequality is not really a development, it is more of a label of the flaws and enhancements of each sex. But scholars, professors, and even historians argue to this day: was gender inequality produced by cause or was it the effect of history? In means, was it created by early humans, or by the natural events of the milestone of all of human history?…
Before the Neolithic revolution, there was no such thing as agriculture, the men hunted and the women gathered fruits and plants everyday. Even thought the men went hunting everyday, they only caught one deer to eat for the whole month. The women had more responsibility because they gathered food, took care of the kids, fixed food for the family, and cleaned the house. Before agriculture started, women had more responsibility, were in charge, and were more matriarchal.…
Why women did not able to take competition with men in the past? The reason might be that most women were very illiterate and depend more on men. Neither they send to school nor were they taught primary education at home. They had compelled to work in the kitchen and take care of the family by providing delicious food. Just Boys were sent to school and girls had responsibility to take care of them. Girls had no option rather than to watch boys going to school. Most girls have to work at home. They had a lot of things to do to make their parent happy. Girls when grown up, they have to get merry. After having married, they have very hard time to get education. One reason that married women had more responsibility to take care of the family…
The status of women enhanced during the interwar years as a result of social gains, political changes, and economic developments.…
The Neolithic Revolution changed gender roles because during the Hunting and Gathering days, men and women were equal in that they both shared the work. After the transition from Hunter Gathering days to the Neolithic Revolution, women stayed indoors more to take care of their children. This meant that they stayed home, instead of wandering around all the time searching for food. So, women were lower than men because they did not work. Men were higher because they control the amount of food they bring into the villages. Over the years the roles of both men and women have come full circle with the hunting and gathering days, to the Neolithic and back to equality today. I think the Neolithic Revolution was good.…
