There have been exceptions to the tradition of keeping women out of combat roles which have been mostly out of necessity. World War II saw a very large need for additional people to be placed under arms. Japan and Russia utilized women to supplement ground combat troops after horrendous losses took a toll on their fielded armies. The U.S. saw it fit to utilize women as ferry pilots flying military aircraft from factories to forward operating locations where they would be taken over by men (Myre, 2013). The U.S. Military put women to work in various forms of defense industry during the war years regressing back to old ways after the Axis powers were vanquished. It’s been proven over the course of the 20th Century that BFOQ in the military by only allowing men into direct combat roles is an antiquated practice. The historic evidence of continued performance of women in these roles proves BFOQ in the military does not…

Women have had to fight for their freedoms throughout history, and gender inequality is not a new concept to a woman. Until 1920 women in the United States did not have the right to vote. There are still modern societies that do not give women rights. Although the United States has more freedoms than some countries, women still have uneven power. There is no society where women and men are completely equal, even in the modern world.…

I wonder who has a family member that has a woman in the Army or war. But I guess that that's a problem. A lot of people would argue against women in combat. Women should be allowed in combat because men and women are equal as is everyone else, they have the right to serve and protect our nation just as much as men do, and any woman is capable to do so.…

Everyone works extraordinarily courageous when danger is experience. Women are not left out. They work as hard to ensure they achieve what is required of them. No gender is designed for courageous acts to be in the military solely. Women and men can work hand in hand to fight the battles and emerge victorious. Women have been restricted from artillery, infantry, armor and other combat roles in specialty. They are recruited to perform administrative work, nurse the ill and wounded, do laundry and cook for the troops. I strongly disagree with the person who came up with this plan. Women should be allowed in the army not to cook but to serve as their male counterparts since no gender is better suited for some jobs and careers (Lianas…

There are many people who feel that this will create problems such as gender roles confusion, woman are not physically or mentally built for these jobs, and that men will not be able to control themselves around women in a combat setting. While others feel that there should not be any limitations set on women because of their genetic makeup; however there are some women who are stronger than some men. This argument makes sense because the physical side of women are lower than man. In basic training the standards of physical fitness have been set to suit men, and women attempting to reach them will over-stretch themselves. Also there is a factor of enemy abuse while both male and females are at risk of torture and rape, but misogynistic societies may be more willing to abuse women prisoners. However women have proven to be a good support in the combat system with morale, tradition and mission effectiveness. In the end there are more positives than negatives for women being allowed to serve in the combat…

One hundred years have passed, and women have marched forward, quite literally. Women have progressed from being strictly wives and teachers to soldiers on the front line; therefore, they should be treated the same as men. Not only are women capable of fighting beside a man in the military now, but they are also great at many other positions in the military such as nurses and pilots. Girls being included in the selective services would increase the size and power of the US army when the time came. Women have most of the same rights as men do living in the United States. Women should not be excluded from the draft because men think women are not equal. Women have the same freedom as men, therefore women should have to fight for it like men as…

This control initially limited but then expanded American women’s role in the military, especially their roles in combat. In 2013, the Secretary of Defense removed the ban on women in combat. There have been many debates leading up to and even after the decision. I agree that women should be in combat. I don’t think that it is fair to deny someone their dream because of their gender. It also allows for the combat force to be more diverse and ready to handle all types of situations. These situations need social skills in which women may be better skilled. Recognizing this important difference provides armed forces with a comprehensive force that can solve conflicts swiftly and successfully. The women help meet the needs of a volunteer based force. Many of the higher positions require combat experience. Women should be allowed in combat if that is where their passion leads them without fear of harassment or assault.…
