Why We Shouldn T Hats Be Allowed In School
Hats in School
I’ve been wondering, why aren't hats allowed school? Extra information about the topic sentence: I mean, hats aren't hurting anyone, so why are they banned. I can think of a few reasons, but none are very good. It’s disrespectful, they’re a distraction? Those aren’t even remotely solid claims, there half-baked ideas and archaic beliefs. Are we really going to listen to people that don’t present any evidence? So in this essay I’m going to show you why I feel hats should be allowed in school, and hopefully by the end you will too. Not allowing hats takes away from individuality, there is NO good reasons why they shouldn’t be allowed, and if they don’t get a chance to take responsibility.
First off, not allowing hats take away from students individuality. Three/four supporting sentences for first point: Hats are just an accessory used to express one’s self. Students are allowed to wear bracelets and ribbons, why not hats? In one’s life it is important to express yourself, but it is even more important during middle and high school to express one’s self. As this is when they are learning who they are. Students want to express themselves, and hats are just a means to an end.

So I leave you with this; why shouldn’t hats be allowed in school? Should we exclude a harmless accessory because of paranoia, archaic beliefs, and incompetence in the ones who make the rules, or stand up for hats, justice, and the American Way. Stand against the outdated ways of the past and fight for a civilized world, where everything is pretty much the same except there are a few people wearing hats in school. Let’s hear it for hats! On the other hand, some teachers don’t want hats cause apparently they are distracting when they really aren’t. Even sometimes you get in trouble for wearing any hair accessories. Both sides, boys and girls would be happy and I am pretty sure we both want to be able to wear hair accessories without paying or having to be scared of getting in…

Moreover, when students are allowed to wear whatever they want, it causes judgment. If you don’t have the latest in fashion or have something that everybody around you does, you will get teased. If you don’t have money and you get all your clothes from goodwill, while the girl next to you has the newest Louie Vuitton purse, it causes a decrease in your self-confidence. Though this breaks the first amendment “freedom of expression”, your expression in the way you dress should not be putting you at risk for bullying and lack of confidence. Uniforms may not look the best on everybody but no one can judge each other because we all look the same.…

Several students feel it is an irrational rule. Students just comment it is a way of expressing themselves, yet they still don’t get to wear them. Hats are used for special event days, such as spirit week. One student points out, that if students are allowed to wear hats on those days, why not every day? A statement from an article on the matter, states that students should be allowed to wear hats in school, because they spend most of the daytime at school, not counting sleeping. Therefore, they should be allowed to pick their own clothing. A student even suggests that they think the school is just making rules, maintain order, and have more…

I feel like hats need to be worn because it can complete the style you're going for. Or maybe something happened to your head so you decided to wear a hat to cover that one spot. I also feel that hats can bring more satisfaction because others may like it. I don’t see what’s wrong with wearing a hat you can see their face. When you see them wearing, there is no threat to the hats or anything.…

This paper is about the issue of school uniforms and whether or not for schools (K-12) to require them. I analyzed three strong arguments from both sides of the issue. The side advocating uniforms argued that school uniforms keep students focused, which may lead to an improvement of grades. Advocates state uniforms deter students from crimes and save money for parents by relieving parents of the pressure of buying new clothes for every school year. The other side of the issue against uniforms in schools argue that uniforms threaten and infringe on student’s freedom of expression by requiring students to wear the uniforms with consequences if not hearkened. The opposition to uniforms also presented a study where the students oppose…

Dear Dr.Weatherly there is one specifically rule that i don't like about this school. We the people should be able to wear hats to school without being stopped in the hallways every twenty seconds. Not allowing hats is absurd and the logic behind it makes no sense. Some say that it affects behavior but I am just a student who rarely gets in trouble except the occasional wearing a hat in school because I forget I have it on when I walk in, others say that you could hide your face or maybe hide things in the hats and that doesn't make any sense.…

With this in mind students have the right to wear what they want but only to a certain point. If what a student has on is offending in anyway, and majority of the people feel offended by what they have on, by our own rights they would have to change what they have on. As said in “Protecting Freedom of Expression on the Campus” a way to approach students with this is to “Seek to educate and persuade, rather than resort to ridicule or intimidation, recognizing that only persuasion is likely to produce a lasting, beneficial effect” (Derek Bok 71). If the schools faculty wants to make an effect on the students realizing what is right and wrong students need to be reprimanded not yelled at for it, or they will keep doing it.…

Students hate walking inside the school and taking off your hat? You wish you could keep it on and take it off whenever you please. I know this feeling and I bet you do to. This rule in schools limits the way we express ourselves. Wearing hats in school is harmless. All students should be able to wear hats in school because it is a public school. There should be no restrictions on how you express yourself. Students are just expressing how they feel by wearing It any way they want. Also, by wearing their favorite team, favorite color or just matching my outfit. I’m sure everybody gets up in the morning brushes their teeth and puts on their clothes. Then on some days when you’re feeling good you might add a hat to what your wearing that day.…

Some parents feel that if public schools would enforce schools uniforms it would put a restriction on their child’s uniqueness or creativity. Although that argument is invalid, because wearing the same uniform would result in students expressing themselves through their personalities and attitude rather then pricey brand-named clothing that not every student can afford. Another argument that the individuals opposed to uniforms propose is that uniforms lack comfort. Parents say that the collared shirts can make some students itchy and that the pants sometimes don’t fit correctly so it makes the student uncomfortable, but others believe that most female students are uncomfortable wearing clothing that shows all their skin but do it because they crave attention and social acceptance. Uniforms would not cause students to be any more uncomfortable than they already…

The essay school uniforms are a terrible idea states that. School uniforms fail to achieve the goals for which a school uniform was established suck as to save students money to, to prevent violence, and create a more organized school environment. The essay also states the uniforms restrict student’s freedom of expression. That school uniforms have led to more violence and that since no studies have yet proven that a uniform policy can solve more problems than they create. This is not necessarily true and uniform policies are not nearly as terrible as the essay would like us to believe. The essay states that the intent of school uniforms was to save students money but that instead of saving money they cost more money and that the writers brother’s uniform cost much more that any outfit from a discount store so it concludes that the uniform policy should be discarded but it is based on the assumption that just because his/her brother’s uniform cost more than regular clothing then every uniform must cost more than regular clothing. She/he commits the logical fallacy of false analogy. My school uniform only cost me around twenty dollars when a t-shirt from a store like forever21 cost me thirty-four dollar. She then claims that if every student was required to pay as much as her/his brother then many students would not be able to afford an education and concludes that uniforms are a very bad idea. But this based on the assumption that because his/her brother would not be able to afford school that many other would also not be able to afford an education which is not necessarily true. She/he commits the logical fallacy of false analogy. Many of my friends would be able to afford a uniform when their parents have high paying jobs. In her next argument she/ he call principals who put forth a uniform policy tyrannical and school boards puritanical and say that they are denying poor students constitutional rights.…

Sometimes in winter my head gets numb, but I’m not permitted to wear a beanie or hat because it’s apparently “gang related.” I’ve always had that told to me as an excuse. Someone I used to know was insecure about his head and constantly wore a beanie, and constantly was in trouble for it, and was forced to remove it. After a while, facility started taking the beanie away from him so he had to keep back-ups in his bookbag just in case. The dress code causes kids not to be able to show self expression.…

School uniforms are just another way students will rebel in school. Students should have the right to wear what they want without being judged on being a “distraction”. The no showing shoulder policy was enforced because it was a distraction to boys. Which is targeted to girls becoming sexist. A girl must always covered her shoulders or she'll be dresscoded. Hailey Everhart a sophomore who started a protest told NBC Chicago “If you wear a sundress, the administration will come up to you and ask you to put on your jacket or leave class”.
